i am getting the same error, everything seems to be going fine until the user and the ip part, i entered my user and my ip but could not see the 'allow' part, and i couldn't find nothing also. i am a newbie to this and have been trying to look at how to create my own proxy server for a couple of days and its doing me head in. if anyone could help i would appreciate it

I had this problem:
root@j:/etc/3proxy# sh scripts/rc.d/proxy.sh start
Starting 3Proxy
scripts/rc.d/proxy.sh: 14: scripts/rc.d/proxy.sh: /usr/local/etc/3proxy/bin/3proxy: not found
I found a solution for this:
then in the 3proxy.cfg:
f you don't want an auth then leave it as it was.
if you want an auth then:
- Add: users username:CL
assword
- Delete :auth none
- Add: allow username (Your username)
- Add: auth iponly (or uncomment)
- if you have extra ips:
- Add: proxy -n -a -p3128 -iYOUrIP -eYOUrIP
proxy -n -a -p3128-iYOUrIP -eYOUrIP
- Delete: proxy -p3128
Every time that you edit this file you should do:
- sh scripts/rc.d/proxy.sh start
If you want:
Add 3proxy to autostart:
echo 'threeproxy_enable="YES"' >> /etc/rc.conf

- apt-get install nano

Does this still work? are there any good UK dedicated / VPS server services out there where I can get up to 256 ip at an affordable price? Also, Are these options necessary when looking for a UK dedicate server provider that can be used for proxy / socks?

i always had the impression that 1 fresh ip v4 can be used for 1000 accounts if you wanted with the use of port numbers .
what i was tault at collage years ago.
you can get a deadecated server load what been said and use a fresh ipv4 and use 0 to 1000 ports to make as many accounts you want .
your need to use blue stacks with the new ip and ports, but that the throry .
to use a bot live 1 port for each ip understandable .
making multipule accounts using ports on a fresh ip should work.
i am only talking about making accounts.

Not sure what this error is , i am not a Linux geek so can't help you in that
I personally have not tested that , Social Media giants have become more strict on that IP things and they have pretty solid way to catch that
