ive heard several people create amazon aff sites with review articles to make bank.

Now why would anybody prefer reading a review article, instead of the actual reviews on amazon?

How can they came to my paint blog, if they are looking for smartphones

It’s about added value ultimately - if you provide research, comparisons, reviews and technical info in one place then you are offering more than amazon - basically you are doing what a buyer would normally have to do themselves - searching google and finding as much info as possible about a product.

They will not.
You need put Amazon affiliate links to paint related products.
Once you send your visitors to Amazon through your affiliate link, you will get commission even they buy smart phone or any other product from Amazon within 24 hours.
