Increase ER by blocking ghost followers

My ER has plummeted and I dont know what else to do about it. I wonder if it is possible to block ghost followers so that they automatically un-follow you???

Logically, this will increase your ER and so the algo will prioritize your posts.

• But does it work IRL?
• Are there any dangers with blocking a huge amount of users?
• What apps can we use to find out who is a ghost follower, and are these apps approved by Ig?

Im basing on it to block ghost followers, does it work? well it has to a bit for sure
As for a block limits, i try make like max 50 per h but im not doing more than 100-150 per day, im blocking manually

I just remove the last 1000 who are following too many people for my taste. Eventually, this will make it so that I never have a fake bot for more than a day, unless they are just starting their follow rounds, which is impossible to avoid those people.

I had to delete more than 15k fake/ghost followers and should still delete a few more altought maybe my account is already penalized and that won't do anything.

I started by blocking but for me was faster by turning my profile private and deleted them from the followers list

Also didn't really understand your last sentence. Can you elaborate? You are removing real users too, not just ghosts and bots? Do you use an app for blocking folks or do you do it manually?

Wow I never thought about turning myprofile to private! Had no idea you could remove followers if you have a private profile?! How do we k now WHAT followers to block/remove though? I tried tyo do it manually and scrolled through a few hundred users but they all seem to be real accounts. Yet I have like 1% engagement (I'm not shadowed).

Also didn't really understand your last sentence. Can you elaborate? You are removing real users too, not just ghosts and bots? Do you use an app for blocking folks or do you do it manually?

I use Jarvee to automatically block anyone following 2k+ people. This is because even if they ARE real people, I don't want them because they will never see my content. (Whats the point of a follower if they never see your content?) This only results in 5-10 losses a day so I don't mind. Also, IG shows your content to only 10% of your followers the first minute. You wan't the chance that those people will see your post to be as high as possible.

HOWEVER, in order to block people with those settings, Jarvee has to pull up the account information to check. Instagram tracks how many times your account requests data from their server. If it is too many times, the algorithm will shadow ban you from IG for a certain amount of times. You will get error trying to log in, or simply won't be able to interact or see any new content.

The quickest way to get blocked is by trying to get a list of your followers with all their info. If you have alot of followers, thats asking to see several thousand unique instagram account info in just an hour or so. the algorithm will get mad and ban you pretty fast.

Yeah hehe, in my case is easier cuz the fakes have no picture on only a few, altough im sure I deleted some real people too :/
In your case its harder cuz they might be real people just that they haven't log in a while or follow too many people

There are app that search in your IG followers list for fake and ghost looking profiles and you can either queue it for the app to block or block/unblock them or do it one by one from the app yourself, BUT I read this app can shadowban so can't really recommend it

When I used it it was ok, and then I discovered that I can just delete without block and was fine, its just now a year later that i think im having problems but it might be the new algo too

all you have to do is block them and unblock and they will unfollow automatically.

Well once you get to the point where you have already deleted them all, you are only deleting a few each day. I think pulling up info comes in different levels. First is usernames, which is probably like 0 effect on the system. Then Userames + follow/following counts & # of posts, then there is all of the above + bio/last post date/private status/buisness status/email/number/real name etc. This really makes the algo mad.

Then you just need to find out who is a ghost follower. One way that I know of people have reported as successful is to scrape your activity every few hours for a month, then map these engagers to your followers. Anyone who hasn't engaged for over 30 days you can then put into a list to target them for perhaps a week, engaging with them to see if they engaged back, or tag / mention. If not run your de-ghost follower routine.


Another way is to find more profiles that are engagers and target those specifically. You can do it via various filters (a few mentioned above) and to work out their engagement ratio (based on engagement and followings). Or a way I am liking at the moment was posted here on BHW: https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/can-it-be-done.1012277/ which allows you to target a particular account and find out who their top engagers are then target them

What are you talking about? SocialRank has a free plan that allows you to analyze your instagram followers and filter them out in detail. You don't know what you're talking about.

Not sure why my post on this service was deleted. I thought it would help a lot of people filter out ghosts followers. SocialRank also has a free plan if you don't need to download reports. Maybe there's a similar program being advertised in here that competes against it. Not sure, but weird.
