Google My Business reviews

this might be off topic but i figure if someone on the internet can help me it would be some one here.

someone posted a very inappropriate comment on a clients GMB page, i have flagged it as such and reported the comment, but am very concerned that google may leave it up, if they do, what are my options? It has nothing to do with business and its incredibly out of line.

My strategy would be:

1. collect payment
2. identify the exact breaches of TOU for GMB
3. request removal and flag within GMB
4. write a clear and valid response to the comment addressing it as nothing more than spam
5. immediately commence long-term campaign to generate at least 2 x new 5 star reviews (*ideally from real customers, not required see BHW for more info each week for the next year
6. collect payment again? (this is my favorite part)

I don't think GMB really matters if your business is not local because we have good reviews but we can not see any ranking benefits

Looks good, only issue is, we do not want to draw attention to this review (yes its that bad) we just want it gone. Its an anonymous review, thats the best part! I know its impossible for google to police all these reviews appropriately but its incredible that people can get away with stuff like this anonymously.

I guess the only solution for this is to report it from many different IP's.. Maybe you can post the link here so that we all can report it.

Get a bunch of 5 star reviews that will push the bad review down to the bottom most potential customers only look at the first few

nothing you can really do with these, google can really careless about such reviews. the advise above is the best you can have, keep getting more positive reviews to fliush that spam one out. Answering the review as SPAM will be good for you. clients appreciate that...

Chill guys. A lot must have changed over a year with that listing. Even OP was last seen on Mar 28, 2018

I've had an inappropriate photo once but took it down because it violated big G TOS. Read the TOS and find a reason to strike it down. Also use more reviews to push it down the list.

I had one on a client's from a local guide that gave a BS 3-star review saying "never heard of this place". She did it to dozens of businesses. Reported it and nothing happened.

Reviews carry only if posted from a local, residential IP within the same area that your GMB is located in.

Google does a pretty good job at spotting fake reviews and penalizing listings that have a fake review.

If you can't get a review from an aged Gmail account which was continually accessed and used from a local IP within that area, you may as well forget about it altogether.

I've tested this on several of my own listings and know what works and what doesn't. Several clients came to me asking why the reviews they purchased didn't push them up the rankings.. when in fact they went down in rankings.

As a rule of thumb, no review is better than one from an irrelevant Gmail account.

I must say, that I have seen this happen as well to a couple listings. I had a listing on pos 1, and it dropped for "NO REASON' big time, other then for the fake reviews. One listing got removed, you have to be very careful about it. Its a risk one has to consider.

Yah, Google does not really seem to care about reported fake reviews, but i do think they are building a strong filer, as long as its not as stupid as yelps filter with 90% inaccuracies !
