What are the laws here in Germany regarding internet marketing in general?

As far as I can understand they have huge problems with torrents mostly which I can live without... for now. They don't like when people are actually sending the copyright files. Some people got pretty big fines regarding torrents when downloading and seeding.

What I want to know - can I download and upload videos to YouTube (channel with small clips like top fails, best clips of the week...)? Can I download images and use them on my website or should I link the image to the author?

I started a YT channel with clips from other people and I don't know can I continue that now since I'm in Germany for a while. Please let me know so I can know for sure.

Torrenting with VPN only. I you seed a music album from your public IP it´s a sure way to get a letter from a lawyer.

Images only public domain or creative commons licenses.
Copyrighted images can get you fined if the owner finds out about it and sends a lawyer after you, even if you credit them. You are using them to make money on YouTube. Chances are much bigger that you will get a big fine here.

well downloading/uploading yt content shouldnt be the problem here. yt will punish you if there is any problem about it.
about the pictures, yes you should somehow link to the imageprovider. i dont know if you use free images or bought some. just link them in the imprint, that should be enough.

Don't do anything trademark related, you are gonna get fucked up.

Don't really want to torrent. I'm more worried about my job other than watching movies. I'm not making German websites, normal offshore hosting, hidden WHOIS.

YouTube will, but will the Germany send me fines because I'm downloading? Damn it. Need to learn German and read the fucking law.

Yeah, I avoid it as much as I can.

Thanks for the help.

The law in Germany regarding pictures is about the same as everywhere in Europe:
If the image is not explicitely copyright free or if you do not have the declared permission of the owner to use it - don't use it.
It doesn't matter at all if you credit the author or not (which you should do anyway even if you have permission) - a picture should not be used without written permission.
Doesn't have to get you into trouble, but it sure might.
Then again, that's a case between you and the author. Unlikely that you will be sued for that by the state.
