Zero motivation

I struggled with this a lot. People think of motivation as some all-consuming driving force like something you might see out of a comic book where a character is just always working towards a goal.

The reality is that motivation is less a burning driving force and more routine and learning to work against your own brain. Your brain doesn't like to stay focused, it will always be your worst enemy. "Fiery" motivation comes and goes--most of us only really experience that at the beginning of a project. It's like, for a heartbeat, we're in "love" basically. But that fades. What then? For me, I have a clear exercise routine each day to work out excess energy so I don't feel the need to wander from my PC. I also use the pomodoro technique to do working "sprints" before I take a break. These two things have really, really improved my ability to focus on my projects and get shit done.

Also, lastly, stop thinking of them as projects and start thinking of them as your job. It doesn't matter if you want to do it or not. Suck it up and make it happen.

^ This. Couldn't agree more. Pomodoro + physical todo list (that you fill with tomorrow's task every night) is the #1 way for you to learn how to organize yourself better. Do that for a few weeks and you'll notice huge changes.

You know what's better than Motivation?
DISCPLINE.

Motivation isn't a thing you can rely on to get things done.

Motivation can go and come very easily. DISCIPLINE not.

You can be super motivated for work and if any little thing affect your mood, your motivation will be ZERO.

Discpline is harder to get, you need to practice it every day.. but believe me when you got this discpline everything will change dramatically.

Forget about motivation and read carefully this.

Start by let's say 6 hours per day for IM.
Promise yourself to do these 6 hours every single day. Don't break your word. Even ok Weekends.

By the time, you will feel it's a very easy task to do. then you go for 8 hours per day ..
Etc.

Then what? Wow, you have a STRONG DAILY ROUTIN & DISCPLINE .. that means whenever you're ZERO MOTIVATED it doesn't really matter you will work because you work due to your ROUTINE & DISCPLINE.

And when you get things done, your motivation will start to increase again.

Believe me Man. Those GURUS in IM are working SO FUC"+** HARD. up to 16 Hours per day everyday.

MOTIVATION IS FOR KIDS, DISCPLINE IS FOR ADULTS.

Here is a really good book that can help you get things done: The Effective Executive. I really recommend reading it even if you already got the discipline and motivation, also the audio book is really good if you like that more.

Great! OP You can find this book too on thread link i posted above.

Motivation is like a muscle. It needs to be used continuously.

You know that feeling when you have an exam tomorrow and you feel like a fucking superman the day before and you can learn the whole course in one day.

Now do it everytime. Imagine that your life will go to shit if you don't do it. How you do anything is how you do everything.

Good luck.

To get motivated, sometimes you need to get away from your computer.

Every day, Eat well, exercise, listen to inspiring podcasts by people like Timothy Ferris, read books about business and how to succeed. Watch inspiring movies, connect with friends and family (unless they are toxic towards your goals).

If you are finding it really hard to get motivated, you can even read books about how to get motivated!

To really get motivated you need to be hungry, and stay hungry, remind yourself why you have set these goals for yourself int he first place, every single day.

Go out for 1 hour, walk around (or drive depending where you are); pay attention to homeless people/beggars and gorgeous girls.

Then come back home and remember the dirtiest beggar you saw, and the most beautiful girl you saw and ask yourself which man you want to be:
- the homeless guy
- the guy who gets the girl

Then after you know the answer, go back to work.

Go get hired to do hard manual labor. You'll get all the motivation in the world after the second day.

Thank you guys.

I will start a new journey pretty soon and I’m 100% sure that I’ll complete my goal! :)

Just tell yourself that you will work on it for half an hour. Usually by that time you are into it and do not want to stop. Or that is how it is with me.

Nice method lol

I’ll try it out! :)

I also feel lack of motivation from time to time, the best way i found to handle it is to work out at least one hour a day to keep myself productive. It really changes you, when you work out you're working out your weakest side.

Well first things first, your way of living plays a big role.

1 Get into the habit of waking up early in the mornings to give your life some structure
2 Eat a low carb breakfast (high in healthy fats) to give you energy throughout the day

Go out and meet people. It's all these things that motivate you in life, you have to surround yourself with people that push you
and motivate you to become the best you.
