I am learning the hard way. Some %^$& has just scored over 27,000 words for $0. What can I say, I am more p!ssed off with my self. But upwork are a joke.

Three times now a client has been problematic. The deliver vague project instructions. Expect the earth for peanuts. Then change their minds and expect free re-writes. If you make one comment they don't like. You find yourself with a blocked chat and a canceled contract.
I have had some great client. But there are too many people abusing the system.

I'm afraid that posting this here will just add to the problem... Now all the black hat %$#* will milk the writers on up work...

That really sucks man. I'm sorry for your loss.

You need to find a better way or to learn how to avoid this kind of problem. Make yourself an apology template in which you'll make the customer pay even if it's not 100% satisfied :) Use social skills and you'll have much better results. Good luck!

Not sure what to say here OP.

You posted a thread moaning about Upwork https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/upwork-suck-balls.1005414/ and haven't replied on it even though people commented on there.

Don't you ever check the buyers feedback too before working with someone ?

Sounds like you either need to up your writing skills or work with better clients or a third option is leave Upwork.

Hi

Thanks for your advice. How do you mean an apology template?

I have been unlucky with some clients. Others have been great to work with. Upwork remind me of ebay, They are quick to take your money and have a very one-sided approach.

Three times now a client has been problematic. checked
The deliver vague project instructions. checked
Expect the earth for peanuts. checked
Then change their minds and expect free re-writes. i tell em to fuck off
If you make one comment they don't like. i don't care lul im a loudmouth
You find yourself with a blocked chat and a canceled contract. i find myself with a negative review so what
I have had some great client. yeah most of mine have been awesome
But there are too many people abusing the system. can't be abused if you choose the right platform

moral of the story: leave upwork as they allow abuse and start your shit on bhw or some other place

There got to be a mixture of all sorts of clients in these freelance platforms. Don't you take 100% escrow payment?

From the sounds of it, OP does not love his job. The first key to success is to LOVE what you do, absolutely love it!

I also got scammed one time when I was just starting off my freelance career. Since then I only work with people who are willing to pay 100% up front.

You will find good and bad people everywhere.
But what I have learned is that you reap what you sow.
So its better not to follow the bad pathway and do good deeds to others

I agree with you. Those places have got sh*t-load of fake buyers nowadays. It is very difficult to understand who are real buyers and going to pay at the end of the project. Move on... and find a better business. I've got my lesson

If you write good contents, BHW marketplace is better to offer your service. Just contact a Mod here, upgrade your account and open a BST. You'll get paid first before writing for your clients.

try delivering your work as a watermarked image and not send the actual doc until job/payment is closed

That’s not really efficient as they can simply rewrite the articles
True, but online sales is about friction, same with fraud. They've already paid the platform, make it hard for them to screw you over and just go with your system and accept the delivery... and if they haven't paid the escrow... that's just bad news

I have been a victim too. Upwork seems to favor one side of the story all the time whenever there is a dispute between a writer and and a client .(that of the client). It is easy to understand why they do this. The client offers them money. You are there to make money. Not that they dont get money from you as a writer, but to them, it appears as though the client's money and his/her views are more important than that of writer.

Freelancing model always side up with clients . The reason is simple there are very few clients and lots of sellers .Just accept this fact and move forward if you want to be in freelance business. Its not upwork fault .Its the whole damn business model .In return you get other perks like work from home and no 9 to 5 job .i am doing freelancing for 3 years now and its the only way of income for me and i am doing pretty good with it . Never had a issue with client .

The problem here is how demoralized one feels after a bad experience with upwork or any other freelancing site.
