Hi Guys,

I had an Idea but I would like your opinions on what would be the best way to approach this method and monetise...

I don't mind making this a community inputted method where we can take input from everyone here and tweak this method untilwe find the best 'settings' for it...

Also any pitfalls you think I may come across would be helpful to me.

I am thinking of building a local directory site for my local area...

I would be targeting similar keywords to the following:

  • Best florist in (enter your local area here)
  • Best laundromat in (enter your local area here)
  • Best gardener in (enter your local area here)
etc etc
Any other keywords you think will be good to target please let me know in the comments.

Then on the site I would have a top 5 for each category...

so for example on the florist page I would have :

TOP 5 FLORISTS IN xxxxx

1. Mollys Flowers
2. Lindas Flower Shop
3. Black Hat Flowers
4. Random Flower Shop Name
5. Funeral Flower Shop

Then I would sell each spot by calling the flower shop and pitching them the sell.

I would try and sell :

number 1 spot for 3 months for $500 = $5.50 per day
number 2 spot for 3 months for $350 = $3.88 per day
number 3 spot for3 months for $200 = $2.22 per day
number 4 spot for 3 months for $125 = $1.38 per day
number 5 spot for 3 months for $75 = $0.83 per day

I am not sure yet exactly the amount I will charge but it will be something along the lines of what I wrote above.

Obviously If I rank 1st for best flower shop (in my local area)

then it wouldn't be a hard sell...

Do you follow me so far ?

I would rank the main site using PBN and other link diversity methods.

The question I had was...

Would it be better for me to create a different money site for each niche or one main directory with all the different niches in them..

for instance;

One main website with :

Florists
Laundromats
Gardners

or one site for florists another site for laundromats and another site for gardeners?

I want to make sure that if id o go ahead with this project I don't make any mistakes and so any info you could give me and advice would very helpful and grateful for me.

I really want to make this work as a side hustle I have a mortgage to pay and a 2 month old to feed! :):):)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks in advance,

MinionHorde

p.s forgot to add if this works it will be super easy to scale it up ad move to the next town or add more niches if the price table I wrote above works you can potentially be making
$1,250 every 3 months from one niche x 5 niches = $6,250 x 5 different areas = $31,250 every 3 months...

What is GMB ?

GMB stands for "Google My Business". It's a service by Google that allows you to create a free business listing.

I think that your idea will work, but it will take a lot of hard work to get it started.

Local keywords are known to be profitable, especially when user traffic is booming.

For as long as people in any area stay hooked at finding services from you, potential for repeat sales multiplies and ends up developing strong users.

Instead of putting in random category filler, transition the content type into a searchable database of each city with sponsored listings to area surprises.

Over time, the site can grow from one area to all areas around. Make the theme a wiki or directory for constant flows of visitor engagement. This can work and successful monetization attempts come from creativity. Partner with coupon sites or even offer direct sponsorship listings for buzz money.

There was conflicting information Given to me here .

One user told me one money site per niche and another person told me to build one site with all niches in them like a directory...

What to do ?

Yes it can work, but it will took lots of your time.

I have the same idea for my country, even registered the domain, but no time to work in this project. I see it like this:

more general name for domain I pick variation of "home services". So my plan is:

home services.com/city/service/ eg ->
homeservices.com/chicago/apartment-cleaning/
homeservices.com/chicago/home-repairs/

then rank the shit out of this first for my home town, then start selling the space there depending of which position exactly the page is. Something like 1st Position for "hope repairs Chicago" -> $500 per month. 2nd - $400, 3rd $300, the rest of top 10 - $100.

Obviously my target is not the US, this is just an example of my plan. The scaling is pretty easy just adding /new-town/ and then the service..

So you would rank the specific page for the keyword ?

Like eg;

home-services.com/chicago/apartment-cleaning/

You would rank that page for:

“best Appartment cleaning in Chicago “

What would be the SEO tactics you would do to rank each page ?

Would you create a PBN just to rank this page ? :

homeservices.com/chicago/apartment-cleaning/

I was thinking of doing it for a small local area ?

Why wouldn’t it work in your opinion on a small area ?
in small areas people tend to simply ask neighbors and locals about recommendations, whilst in big cities people do that besides looking on the internet.

Considering your locality has a good number of internet users and there is no such service available. Go for the all in one option as it would make you look a big player.

Pick maybe 2 or 3 cities, based on different population sizes
you would be best with a seperate domain each, otherwise you would probably be the first business
to ever offer all 3!

This method is know as rank and rent, and you should concentrate on your 1 batch of sites to build
links to as you mentioned, before you start dreaming of how much you can make.

Its free to dream, but it costs to work a method.

Thanks for your reply.

Do you mean separate domain for each city but all the niches of that city on same domain.

Eg :
local area1.com/florist
Localarea1.com/locksmiths

Or

Bestfloristinlocalarea1.com
Bestlocksmithinlocalarea1.com

My plan is to start with free linking first - local directories, some social signals, some niche related (for the specific page) forums and see how it goes. Then some local WEB 2.0 as probably not worth to build PBNs specifically for each page. As the website grow bigger can start outreaching for links - thats the reason why I prefer single massive website than multiple small ones, at some point it will become authority and in my opinion is easier to get a link for such website than for site with name like "best-cleaners-chicago.com".
