Question About Re-Writing Content "Inspired" By Other Blogs

I'd like to make something clear in my mind and I'd really appreciate it if you could share your thoughts / knowledge about it.

I've seen blogs re-phrasing content, not copy-pasting but writing from scratch information that's obvious it was taken by - inspired by - an another blog. Also they pass premium copyscape with 100% uniqueness.

I've also seen blogs copy-paste content with the source link at the end of the post (which I believe this is ok to do).

My question is this: If you re-write content (NEWS specifically) from scratch, without providing the source that this info was taken from, but re-write it yourself with other words would you have any issues?

For example, if you write a news post about politics "this man did that" in your own words, is this safe legally?

If it's information that is readily available at more than one place (in the case of news), you should be fine. If it's a unique investigation, you are always better off mentioning the source somewhere (it doesn't have to be at the end).

The "inspired by" content is usually fine.

But "legal" is not a universal term. Different countries have different laws, so what's legal for me, might not be legal for you and your hosting provider might be bound or unbound by a totally different set of laws because of their location and so on.

As long as you are not copying an exact idea, it is fine. Being inspired by others is great and often times you can put your own spin on it.

In addition to avoiding plagiarism and presenting the article in another slightly different angle, you have to make sure that you give proper credit where it's due if you consider including "quoted texts or lifted material" like interviews or insights from someone in the content.

It's fine if you rewrite it in your own words. However, some quoted text or interview lines must be mentioned.
