Above is true. I have a few Shopify stores as well and the only way payment is accepted is if you're on their billing model.
You can get a Shopify rep pretty easily these days to help you with questions.

Because you missed the boat last year 2017. 60 days trial was around for months.

alright guys so i was about to open a store with a free trial but i got confused. Will i not be able to accept payements if im on trial ? what is the solution ? wait till the trial is over or what ? my plan was to get a free 45 days of 30 days trial without paying for them then pay for the next month and the months after those but what i unerstood now is that u cant accept payements during trial and some said that u cant even add a domain name .
so does that mean that if i started with the free 14 days trial and i made a sale on the sixth day , i wont be able to get it till the 14 days trial is over ?

You cannot make a sale on sixth day or seventh or what ever day on trial period.. trial period wont allow you to do anything than customize your theme and upload products.. you cannot go live without paying the shopify subscription fee.

Only 50 real orders limit + not able to install paid apps, does limit this a bit, no?

I think stores can accept order during trial,you will have to add a card and choose a plan but you card would only be charged when your trail is over.
