Promoting a domain pointed at an IG account?

I've been sitting on a particular domain for awhile, pointed it to an Instagram account I update related to the domain.

question #1
is pointing a domain to an Instagram account a bad idea until I develop a site for that domain?

question #2
should I start creating backlinks in the wild for that domain even tho it's not a real site ?

I do plan on developing a site on that domain within the coming months. Having links in place beforehand might be beneficial?

It's way better if you delay this process. It'll be better if you start building links when you have content on the site.
