Domain name copyright question

Hey all,

If I get a domain name with a games name in it, for example clashroyalehack.com, will the game be able to take my domain name down for copyright issues?

I think the deal is that if it’s clear your site is not affiliated with the company then it’s ok.

If you are perceived to be using the name to benefit you then it would not be ok.

I’m no expert though.

No the "domain name" does not belong to them. Long answer the "name does" how youre using the site is a loophole to a court battle. If you're affecting their bottom line, expect blowback, biggest pocket wins. Content taken down url is yours. I am not a lawyer nor do I play one on tv, so listen to me at your own risk.

If the name is Trademarked then you could have problems.

Not an issue, such domains are usually churn and burn anyway.

The example that you have mentioned is definitely trademarked, so you would be breaking copyright laws. However, considering that you are most likely planning to monetize it with fake hack/cracks, then that's, as far as I know, classified as fraud, so... yeah, I would be more concerned about that.

they buy all the domains in their name xyz.com xyz.net etc.

There are some cases where they ask your domain for a price. Just sell them

i had to give it to them, they didn't ask nicely If OP thinks he can register trademark domain name extensions and sell them to the company then his is mistaken, otherwise everyone one would be doing it.

Your example is a trademarked domain that the company can take away from you by just filing a case to WIPO, been there done that. However, in your specific example I've seen a lot of game hack domains around and they seem to do fine. Just don't put too much effort in a single domain of such trademarked name.
