How to protect my bandwidth (iframe)

Hi I am building a movie streaming website with a paid google drive storage. Have used openload service for a while but found all those pop up ads very annoying ( also dealing with inactive files is time consuming).

Anyways, with google drive storage, I have to embed the movie link in my wordpress website like this '<iframe src="https://drive.google.com/file/d/xxxxxxxxx"></iframe> and obviously the link is visible in source code.

Now, what concerns me the most is that because the google drive is a paid service, I don't want people to copy and paste my google drive link in their website and steal my bandwidth.

I have been trying to find the solution to this for the last few days with no luck.

Is there any way to protect my bandwidth?

By the way, I have enabled hotlinking prevention service with my web hosting provider but apparently it is only useful with iframe with the same domain which is not my case at all.

I would really appreciate it if anyone could help me with this.

It would be useful if you include what kind of script you are using for your website. What kind of CMS etc ?

If it is wordpress than i guess you can find some plugins that would hide your embeded links. Else you will need to hire a coder to make you a custom script that will obfuscate your iframes so they cant be copied.

Hello. Thank you all for your awesome responses. I really appreciate it. But sadly, the suggestions given were already tried and they were not really doing much to prevent the bandwidth from being stolen.

@virtualpurity, I am quite new to building my own website and rely heavily on wordpress plugins (I use wordpress). I have been trying to find wordpress plugins to make the embed code hidden but no luck there.

I am more than happy to hire coder to help me with this problem of mine with of course reasonable fee.

Any more suggestions?

As hotlinking prevention only works with iframe with the same domain which is not my case and with right click prevention plugin, you can still see the inspect element with shift key + F10 I think.


I was trying to find the plugins you suggested. Are they wordpress plugins? I can't find any of them.

First of all you can not embed links from google drive directly like that with :

<iframe src="https://drive.google.com/file/d/xxxxxxxxx"></iframe>

Because your account will be reported and banned.
Once solution is to get a Google Proxy Script. For this you will need a VPS with unlimited Bandwidth and a proper cache setup.
Your link needs to be encrypted so it will not be removed from Google Drive.

I see many people are using scripts from juicycodes which includes Advanced Hotlink Protection, you can google it and try it yourself.

You didnt understand me correctly, you CAN and you are ALLOWED to embed links on your website, but since your are embedding COPYRIGHT Materials you can get reported and banned. That is why its recommended to use the Google Drive Proxy..

Thank you for clarifying that. Silly me he he. I've had a look at the google proxy script from juicycodes as you suggested and although I don't understand half of what it says as I am not very good with those technology terms, it sounds like what I have been looking for. Thank you.

Now I need to find a good encryption tool to encrypt the links. Any suggestions?

You can probably make a script that will change the url of the gdrive link so that it is on your server shortlinked and to load a unique shortlink for each url
so that each gdrive link has an unlimited unique permutations of shortlinks and only 1 works which is the latest
you can opt to only change it every x pageviews to that page where the link is to save on server performance
this way you can let the script whether the origin of the request to the link is from your own website and if not or direct to null the shortlink
