@Floopa75 provided me with a review of two links (I believe Link #1 and Link #2). DA was spot on for the old method of Ahrefs domain authority. Current domain authority for the raw domain on Link 1 is now 32, and for Link 2 is now 44, still very solid compared to how most sites dropped to near nothing.
The articles were pretty raw, looking like news clippings, and were extremely readable. The links were placed naturally, and did not look spammy or forced. They led to the location I specified, and the links had relevant images and it was clear a person made this, not an automated process.
The sites were simple and minimalist, and my article was on its own, structured in a way to not get lost in a sea of other articles in a blogroll.
These are actually the first two links I am building for this site, so I'm interested to see how the results play out. I will provide another update in two weeks once the links have indexed and started to work their magic.
