Entry Process limit exceeded???

508 Error. Entry Process limit exceeded. This site is temporarily exceeding the allowed resources on the server, please check back after a while. If you continue receive this message for more than few hours, please contact webmaster.

Any idea what this means? I have never seen it before, it seems to be disabling my geoip from running.

I’m guessing it’s using too many resources. Maybe hit processor usage limit or something.

If you use geoip and have a lot of lookups I think it will be quite resource hungry.

my limit is set to 20? surely that cant be right? it has never happened before

1 Entry process is actually one process related to your website.
It can be a cron job or a visitor triggering a PHP script.
Nowadays, most of shared web hosting providers do use this limitation to prevent one user to kill a server with unlimited PHP scripts processes

To solve the issue you have actually 2 choices:

- Contact your provider and ask them to upgrade it / upgrade your plan to a higher tier if it includes more entry processes
- Optimize your PHP pages so they load faster and don't accumulate into several entry processes.

Would a basic Geoip script count as 1 entry for every link?

so if i have a script with 7 links each one is triggered each time for the same person?

I'm not sure how your script is developed.
If you do 7 different IP lookups from 7 different PHP scripts called from one PHP page. Yes, one person would trigger 7 processes.

If your 7 lookups are included in one PHP function, then no, it would be 1 entry process with a greater time to be executed, in which case, they can accumulate faster and basically your website can handle less simultaneous users.

You can works things out with your provider if they are willing to. I know we do according to the server usage, we can micro manage and grant a greater amount of entry processes on a case by case basis.

I would move over to your own VPS.

You have far more control over the settings and the pricing isn't usually much more than shared, unless you go for some crazy spec.

I use VestaCP (setup with NGINX + php-fpm) which I believe is the fastest way to run a webserver with PHP scripts.

If you decide to move over to a VPS and can't find someone here to help you, I recommend Hetzer. I recently moved over to them myself.

Yes..As my analysis i saw that NGINX performing well,but it is too hard to configure.Custom configuration are more best than auto script control panel installation.Auto installed control panel installing un-necessary application and service ,which is security thread and westing more server resource.

hmmmmm

Just try to optimize your code or upgrade resource.For balancing resource utilization shared server configured resource allocation for every single account,so shared account cant excited use resource limit.
