In the past days I started a thread here about starting an affiliate website...
And well, a guy told me by PM that affiliate website doesn't rank anymore from December 2017 because google hate affiliate websites... is it true?

While it isn't strictly true, affiliate sites are being pushed out (from what I see in the gambling niche). Don't know where he pulled the random date of December 2017 from. It's been happening for years.

Affiliate sites are ranking for me. I can’t necessarily speak to “thin” sites that might be focused on a particular product alone

Mine generally cover related topics and point to a product that can help with the topics

I have not done any sites that is something like “product xyz review” in years but otherwise my affiliate sites are doing fine

Is it no longer a good idea to get into making gambling niche websites? Or is there still good money in there if you drive traffic through other sources?

Tried my hand with several affiliate sites with luckluster results.
The problem is with keywords, newbies usually for hight competition keywords when they dont have any seo knowledge and the budget to get them ranking.
Choose low hanging keywords and you might hit the pot of gold at the end of the affiliate rainbow.

I hope someone doesn't PM every member on here claiming seo is dead, PBNs are dead and IM is dead.

Then again it reduces the competition......

Affiliate sites can page 1. The origin of their unique content.

Usually affiliate sites look like stores.
And they are hard selling or selling their products directly.

Google does not like content dublicates.
So that affiliate site with dublicate content will be difficult page 1.

But if they write the product review manually and have a low level of dublicate.

They can page 1 easily.

Also see keyword competition.

If that's the case then what's with all affiliate websites currently ranking? A simple search for "Product name review" of any popular digital product from Clickbank marketplace will reveal that affiliate sites still work. Stop believing all the nonsense and don't let others discourage you.

Not true - it seems to be harder but you need more content other than article after article of best this and review of this .. etc

Many valuable answers here, esp the post above, its the secret door to rank “any” website.

Note, if you still running after ranking a a keyword then you are totally wrong and google will hate you. Go after the general theme of your keyword and everything related to it.

Hope you have time to do it

If he pretends to reduce the competition by PMing every marketer out there, he would actually have to message hundreds of thousands people, if not millions.
