Facebook CPC adverts are too expensive!!!

To target everyone living in the United Kingdom it's $2.75 a click
To target 13-35 year olds living in Birmingham UK it's $7.45 a click.

Years ago all clicks on facebook cost $0.08-0.15

Anyone else having this problem?

Yes certainly prices are increased. Also the quality (accuracy) of leads and targets have also increased. If you target correct people you will get more profit.

f you target correct people you will get more profit.

Yes but not everyone is using Facebook Advertising to advertise things that cost money like an online shop that sells products.
I would like to promote my free startup. With these CPC prices, it looks like I'll have to go elsewhere to advertise my free social network.

Yes, it's the concern of many people out here.
Even fake IDs don't last longer now.
You may target tier 3 countries if Geo is not important for you.

What the fuck, are you targeting financial traffic? It shouldn't be this expensive AT ALL in UK. The MOST expensive traffic in UK for an average ad is around $1.50/click. Your ad(s)/audience suck dude. It's not facebook, it's you.

Well if it's a paleo recipe, then you target women who do paleo.

Facebook is only getting more expensive for beginners mate.
The cpc will drop a lot of you got enganging content.

Also who would target "everyone living in the United Kingdom" ?

EVERYONE? really?

It's getting more and more expensive that's how FB is maximizing their profit

Create better ads.

I'm still seeing $0.10-$0.30 clicks for UK traffic, even US traffic is no more than $0.5.

Id stay away from Tier 1 countries until you know how to get that low cpc in those GEO's

Can you please help me setup my facebook adverts?

The more broad my targeting is for my audience, the cheaper the CPC, and my startup does not need narrow targeting.

Facebook will only get more expensive as more people (with larger budgets) realize how much cheaper and more effective it is than alternative marketing channels.

If you really don't have a niche you're marketing to at first, you're going to have a bad time with any type of business for this very reason. Your marketing will be too shallow to penetrate any market and won't be able to get traction. You're just throwing away money and have no way to optimize your campaign since you're not trying to reach anyone specifically. Think of how others have done it. Facebook started with students from one university, then students of U.S. ivy league schools, then other U.S. universities.

You need to come up with some specific segment you'd like to have on your site. Just some random ideas -- maybe specific industry or job title. Maybe location. Maybe income. A combination of these things perhaps.
Now people actually have a reason to join -- a social network full of people just like them! Now you actually have some compelling marketing content and demographics to target. That's what you need to figure out first so your marketing dollars can actually work for you.

Once you do that, here are some general marketing tips:

You may need to consider optimizing your campaign to be more aligned with your goals. If you're just looking to spread the word and gain awareness, CPM is the best way to go. As for the ads themselves -- the better your ads are, the cheaper they will be and the more Facebook will show them. They also take into account your entire ad account history and how active/engaging the content on your page has been.

There is a lot more to Facebook ads nowadays -- which means more potential reasons you may not be getting the best results or the best price.

With all that said, I still believe Facebook is the best marketing channel for most businesses and it's probably in your best interests to stick with it.
