Regarding price of Bitcoins

IMO, there's too much fraud going on for me to invest. There's a say, "Bad money drives out Good" - which basically means that fraud will drive away legit. It's not just tether though, which is #1 issue right now.. it's that the exchanges are allowing spoofing/wash trading - which further irritates the problem. Truth is no one knows the real value. It's kinda like where would the stock market be if the fed didn't continually push up the price? But it's worse than that. The underlying value of the stock market - the companies themselves - are tangible, they create real products that are in demand.. With bitcoin it's just an idea and some infrastructure. Another way to look at it is when bitcoing went from $100 to $1k - it came out in court proceedings against Mt. Gox that the exchange itself faked trades that pushed the price from $100 to $1k.

So what happens when you have a speculative investment that derives it's value on fraud? I dunno, but it's not something I want to put my money in.

Honestly, it's better to invest in yourself and in business ideas.

Scroll down to what money is.

Not a shot at you, but just so everyone is informed of the standard we are talking about.

With that said, I agree wholeheartedly on the last point in the quoted post.

As per what everyone else is saying, withdraw what you need. Keep the rest in if you want to roll with that risk. I think the risk of it sinking is low but who knows. Do some research on where bitcoin is going this year and decide that for yourself

For some spoon feeding research the lightning network, what it solves, and what it's built on (segwit).

Bitcoin is not money - it is a speculative asset. You can lose faith in the US dollar, but it doesn't matter. You can be thrown in jail if you refuse to accept it as money. Bitcoin relies on 100% faith, and when the amount of fraud erodes the faith, then nothing is backing it.

It sounds like you're arguing that US dollar is backed up by an enforcer of it's value. That's all it sounds like the difference is.
One currency doesn't hold you to be slave to it if you refuse it. One does.
One doesn't coerce you into using it. One does.
But that's all it is.
US Dollar relies on faith, in part by enforcing faith on people. Bitcoin & other cryptos don't. Oversimplified of course but you get my point.

I hear you though :)

yeah unfortunately the population is too desensitized to the hallucination of backed fiat

I don't blame them. It's what they (and 99.999999% sure all of us) have grown up with. So this is new to everyone in a lot of ways.
However, when everyone educates themselves on financial systems, the origins of money & exchange, etc., this doesn't sound new, it sounds opportune.
Without that, those that don't take a leap of faith will miss out on what someone else knew and tried to help them understand.

I let it be so. I educate, teach, explain or point to resources to accomplish the goal of having people onboard BEFORE they miss an opportunity out of ignorance. If they learn but do not make use, that's on them. If you offer tools and methods to learn but they don't make use, that's on them.

Nothing wrong about that. I don't want anyone crashing and burning. But I certainly don't want to see people be in the same place down the road with minimal (or missed out) progress. We will just see how that plays out.
Those who are most informed (and obviously make use of that info) win the most. Even in such a volatile conditions since this market's inception.

lol, you two are a trip! btw you're not educating anything, unless you consider nonsense. I think crypto is great.. except for the speculative aspect of it. Let me guess - you've fallen for HYIP's before. You do realize this is the same ole shit? It's ponzi bullshit. Theres no value being created. The only thing propping up value in bitcoin right now is fake tethers.

Let me ask you something: What happens when the fraud is removed from crypto? I'll tell you - the bubble will burst.

Meanwhile, you guys are shilling hard for bitcoin.. saying the price will go to 50k in march - what a load of bullshit, and sadly some idiots will think you have some inside knowledge - when in reality you're just speaking out of your ass.

To anyone on the sidelines reading. Take note that I do have crypto holdings. I own bitcoin and others. But i will not shill for it, unlike these guys in here.

And i can guarantee i'd whoop both of your asses in a debate about what 'money' is. I've smoked way more pot than you, 'alanwatts', and have watched all the conspiracy docs - bman

You have a lot of hostility. What did I shill? Where did I say it was going to 50k in march??? Lol I said for those curious to do some research.
Congratulations friend lmao you are the trip.
Read what I said my friend, because clearly you didn't. Your anger or frustration is misdirected lol
If you know more tell us what's going to happen next grand master? LMAO

I don't do fragile egos & annonymous aggression so I'll stop this nonsense, please don't respond to me anymore as you went juvenile for no reason.
You have a great day and wish you the best in all of your endeavors.

All of this is unnecessary talk, the bottom line is: we dont know, you dont know and no one knows. What is being discussed here is called the future and what you are asking is called an investment, investments hold risks.
Are you willing to risk money? If yes, leave it there for a couple of months If not cash out.

Do whatever you want.

Lol sorry for the hostility.

Point is i don't know where bitcoin price will be in next few months, but what I can say is the recent tether developments are rather ominous.

No one mentions bitcoin halve. Of course there is a chance that bitcoin could be worth nothing. But I think it will survive and it will keep skyrocketing. Especially after the halve.
