Scammers hitting Stripe, be careful!

Some people on this forum tried to buy our services but got red flagged on stripe as on PP.

That's good to hear that it actually worked for blocking scammers. Did you just simply use Stripe as is, or did you get any extra "anti-scam plugins"? (or whatever you want to call it)

Verification check was done, you can see some sort of verification in the Shopify dashboard somewhere when an order has been made. CVC & Address verification. All orders went through their (built in) "verification check" and said it was all good to go.

Were the billing and delivery addresses the same? What country were the disputed transactions from? Did you use Google maps to check the addresses really exist and look like residential properties? Were there any similarities with the disputed transaction (city/email/card number)?

Yes, same billing & delivery address - I even found them on Facebook. My niche was very very specific, and when I found them on FB I could pretty much confirm instantly that it's a person that would buy my product.

Countries: US, UK and Ukraine

No similarities at all between the orders, at least not what I could see.

If you are confident that these were legitimate transactions, then follow Stripe's complaint procedure.

If you are unsuccessful and live in the EEA, then there should be an option to escalate the complaint to the UK Financial Ombudsman. This will cost Stripe £550, so they will either settle with you, or if they believe they have enough evidence, they will dispute the complaint. It does not cost you anything to go through this process.

Edit: I checked through the UK Financial Ombudsman's complaints data (http://www.ombudsman-complaints-data.org.uk/) and there are no records of complaints against Stripe.

I would encourage you to go down this route. Stripe would have to provide evidence why they accepted these transactions were fraudulent and the reasons would be stated in any ruling.

Furthermore, the Financial Ombudsman is a free service for you and their rulings are binding - so if you raise a complaint and they rule in your favour, Stripe would have to pay you compensation based on what you lost as a result of the 'fraudulent' transactions.

MMmmmm... I miss my earningsselling online, but reading this i remenber why i did quit.

You can see in hackers forums how to buy for free in ebay amazon and i am sure now is stripe... well , this people who do fraud is always the same is a pity and hard to solve.

Any of you would think that paying with cryptos will solve this?

Maybe we need to start asking for bank transfers or cryoto transer with theter ICO.

Clearly not, as I haven't got any emails about my orders from the chargeback customers. They went straight to chargeback, one of them the day after. Obvious they wanted to chargeback from the beginning.

I was talking about the other guy. a lot of us come from forums like that and I would like to say that people don't chargeback individuals on those forums. It's actually looked down upon

that a nightmere chargebacks from pro scammers very hard to prove otherwise becouse they can even tip of the post man / courier to even lie .

i got a mobile over 1k thift from del man i got it on ctv he come to my home in a van got the parcel out but put it back in front of van and made a card saying left in safe place , but i was in watching from front room , i phone police and got crime number and phone the company , even thu i got proof i had to wait x2 weeks to get a new phone under the company insurance , becouse the delaver was a private contractor was not sacked and he still denys it even with ctv proof ....

complete nightmere .

and yes happen alot near xmas hell a lot ..

always track everthink online , make them pay for tracking

Don't capture all payments automatically, Stripe will usually notice you if there is a fraudulent attempt, just reject those payments.

Been working with them for a while now, very low charge back rates.

So people can just go online, order whatever they want, tell their bank "Oh I didn't order anything" and get their money back? Even when the seller providers evidence? That's fucking ridiculous, I'll never accept cards again then.

There’s no way you’re going to get your money back from any credit card processor. Regulation Z under TILA (US law) gives the right for consumers to file CC chargebacks and requires that the burden of proof be on the merchant. So if someone says they didn’t get the product they don’t have to prove it but you would have to prove that you delivered the product. This is why so many chargeback disputes are lost.

Additionally Visa, MC, Amex, and Discover have their own rules and regulations that require CC processors to take funds from merchants in disputes and apply fines if necessary.

You’re either going to have to take it up the chin with the occasional chargeback or don’t accept credit cards which means your revenue will go down by 90%. Most online businesses can’t survive or are on life support if they don’t accept credit cards.
