Ok, I'm trying to win one of a top competitor on a certain keyword phrase.

I did a "allinanchor:site" on the competitor and they actually had over 10,000 backlinks!

So should I just get backlinks from those 10,000 sites too?

Go over to http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com

and key in your competitor's URL.

Browse through the list and drop an anchor text link (keyword you wanna rank for) on those sites.

Having said that, there are plenty of other factors that determine SERP rankings. Just keep building high quality backlinks from forums, blogs, articles and bookmarks and evaluate the effectiveness of the strategy.

how old is your comp. site ? Domain age is a huge factor to google. There are ways to do this. Use market samurai or similar and determine thier SEO compared to yours. also, it is not only the number of links but the relevency (same niche) and PR of them. Use paul and angelas backlink package - thats good
