I was contacted from the freel@ncer website for a writing job with details to the employer's Skipe, I have been writing articles for him for two days now and he's posted an ad employing me for $15 hour on the freel@ncer website, just wondering if there's any chance I might get snaked here?

He hasn't paid me yet but ensures payment on Friday and an invoice sent out the day prior. Should I continue?

There's a feedback system there what you can check. There are also different type of verifications (phone, email, payment) and you can also check whether the employer made a deposit or not. With non-escrow type of deals there's always a chance to get fucked over, but you may worry too soon.

I'm not sure if you can register a VCC or prepaid throwaway card on there as a verified payment option.

The fact he's messaged you from 2 accounts is suspicious. Maybe contact their CS and ask about this.

Also if he's messaged you for working for him, how many others has he done the same to (possibly) ?

What I will say though is I pay after completion of work from writers, I won't pay upfront on those types of platforms.

Speak to their customer service team if you have doubts.

I don't write for IWriter but I think he may be using my articles for IWriter or a similar content mill, do any BHW writers recognise this format? He sends me instructions this way.

Most likely he won't pay you at all! He will say that your work did not meet his standards etc
Better ask for an upfront payment as the others suggest.

You should've asked for payment after every 2 or 3 articles in order to build trust. 10 articles with no pay yet is too much. How many articles would that lead to come Friday? At Onlinejobs, we always tell the workers to inform their employers to pay them on a weekly basis first before moving on to monthly so that they'll know the credibility of their employers.

I think you should continue working and stop suspecting whether you'll be paid.You're venturing your time in writing which is also an investment and in business its all about taking risks.Just risk your time,something good may come up from that.

Does your employer speak broken English and have a picture of a white person on Skype? If that's the case, you're being targetted by a scammer from a third-world country. In fact, freelancing platforms are now full of these guys trying to mooch people off. Be careful.

Anybody on freelancer can scam you; no matter wherever he from. I've got scammed twice on freelancer that led me to leave that platform totally. The first was writing articles for a scammer from third-world countries and the second was for youtube SEO for another from first-world countries.

Freelancer.com got its cut from my paypal account but at the end of the project the employers didn't pay me anything. Contacted freelancer support with no help in my favor. I remember I didn't do anything wrong.

Beware of freelancer
It’s the the most shady freelancing platform out there, and verifying your card (even a fake one) is so easy there, so don’t trust clients just because they have a verified card.

Damn dude! that sucks. Fiverr is a much better platform when you compare it to Freelancer dot com. At least the dispute support is fair.
