Someone did negative SEO to me

Someone did negative SEO to me and I am infuriated. (I am not in the SEO industry)

I found 2 SEO companies that are potential suspects and I intend to visit them and to find out if they do negative SEO

The question is that how can I remove the negative SEO quickly? The negative SEO are linking to the images on my website so can I just simply remove the images and will that work and help in my rankings?

What is the other ways that I can help minimise the impact?

You can use the disavow link tool to remove negative links. Sorry to hear that you are a victim of google bowling, that usually happens when your website matters (ranks well), so that would be the bright side (you managed to upset your competitors).
 
Unless it was very well planned, negative seo does nothing. The disavow tool pretty much does nothing too.
 
In a printing industry (Where it comprises mostly of old people).

I have singular-ed the company that did this and I will be going down to the company to confirm my suspicions. Even if he does not admit, the trace is all leading back to him.

This guy actually went to the extent of purchasing shit domains, setting it up as PBNs with thin content and then pointing it to me.
Then he did social bookmarking from crap third party sites and pointed it to the site's images but not the site.
The best part? He doesn't even use my anchor keywords. He uses long tail keywords and thats why I didn't detect it until 1-2 months later when the rankings all went down and I started to look deeper into it.

@MikeyMikey13 why would you say negative SEO does nothing? I once run a SEO company and was in the SEO industry and I was always negatived SEO by other people so negative SEO does do something because I used to be on the first page and then, when they negative SEO me, I dropped to the 2nd page.

I have however, check on other competitors in the SEO industry who was negative SEO but still standing strongly on the first page, position #2. In this instance, what links is this company building such that they can withstand negative SEO attack?

Actually, there are people offering such services. Depending on how much profit he was expecting from this, he might have just purchased such a service.

You can surely work this out. I have gone through similar stuff with main brand website in my company. It took us almost half a year to recover.

What worked is (a) consistent disavow administration (delegated one of team members to update it daily - tons of spam were incoming), (b) more aggressive link-building - diversifying the sources as much as possible, and (c) update of internal site structure + anchor policy.

Not sure if this will work for everyone nor that our strategy is right (also, sounds a bit shallow - hard to go into all the details). Though, we managed not only to recover, but capitalize and grow our organic traffic 4x in a year since the beginning of spam.
 
I haven't been a fan of the disavow tool, but it's a feature on GWT, where you can disavow the spammy backlinks. I'd try the tool if there are lots of neg.seo backlinks and it is affecting your rankings. Google should pick it up from there but the rankings recovery can take time and is not guaranteed.
 
I have used the disavow tool with great results. You just need to make sure you disavow the correct links and it will work just fine. Otherwise, the results will likely be more destructive than beneficial.
 
Disavow Spammy Link & Build Few High Quality Links.
Google Understand This Thing & Now A Days Google Ignore Bulk Links Built In Very Low Time Span.

Spamming a site with 100,000 links, from all of my tests does more good than harm.

I've got 7 tests sites to show. So yes, what is your wager?

Anything more complicated, yes probably will still work. But spamming doesn't.

When did you run this SEO agency?

P4 did a lot of work to completely prevent you from being dropped from neg seo. My entire niche use negative seo but no one drops.

The chances are it was just your below par seo work.
 
Really sad to hear things like that.
Always reading that Google is smart and blablabla.. why not they give the webmasters the option to accept or decline backlinks to their websites ? Someting like you get a new link, Google notify you, you go to your GWT and you click Accept or Decline.

I believe that is an easy task for Google to add. But no, unfortunately all they are focusing on is how they can find and penilize small webmasters that are trying to make a leaving. So they can give the big websites more space because they considered authorites and can make google money by running ads.
 
Disavow Tool may help you. But it takes time to recover that effect.
A better way to do is to contact the webmasters and ask them to remove your link. Its a fast way to remove effect.
