A coin called "Burst" is mined using storage units like hard disks and USB memories (inefficient though). Their reasoning is that this method requires very little energy compared to both CPU and GPU mining. I didn't invest in mining equipment though. I simply bought for the money I would have to spend on external HDDs.

I am yet to understand the concept of steemit. How can be coins generated when someone adds content there ?

I like the concept of NEO. There is no need to turn the PC on. Just store it in your wallet and it will generate GAS.
