Satoshi or FIAT when selling?

Actually I own a big bag of a certain crypto, that I bought at 0.0005 satoshi and it was worth like 8,18$ at that time.
Now its value is less than 8$ but the satoshi price has increased to 0.0007.

I'm in for the long run, so I wouldn't cash out these on FIAT, but I'd rather re-invest those money on another coin.
My question is if it's profitable to sell now when the satoshi price is higher, or I would go in a loss anyway even if the price is higher in btc price just because the FIAT price is down?

You can sell now and hold that BTC if you think Bitcoin will increase more than the coin you are holding.

Not really.

You have $10, you can buy $10 worth of a coin.

You now have $5, you can only buy $5 worth of a coin.

Yes, you now have more BTC than when you started, but that Bitcoin is worth less, so you actually have less buying power, although BTC decrease usually means the coin you want to buy decreases, so the # of coins you can buy probably drastically hasn’t changed, but their value has.

What I’m saying is if you sell now, you will have less $ than when you started. If you think BTC will rise more than your coin, then buy it.

No real need to worry about the price in fiat, considering Bitcoin is going to be the new one world currency. So you may as well have as much Bitcoin as you can.

If you are buying Altcoins then the pair is BTC-Altcoin which means you're buying/Selling BTC for Altcoin to have more BTC (not dollars), now if the Satoshi price has increased then that means you've made a profit. If Satoshi price goes down but Dollar price goes up and your portfolio is up by Dollar by Down by BTC value then that's a loss. Because why are you holding Altcoin? to make a profit (generate more BTC), if you look at dollar value going up then that simply means BTC price went up which is why dollar value of the Altcoin went up which again means you were better off holding BTC then the altcoin . But the Pair is USD/USDT-Altcoin then you are supposed to look at dollar values I hope you understand what i am trying to tell you.

At this point, USD is what the OP probably wants to calculate profit on, as that’s the currency they are using, at the end of the day.

Their USD portfolio value is down. They have lost money.

Yes, they now have more Bitcoin (if they sell their alt) than they started with, but that’s because BTC is worth less, not necessarily because their coin is worth more (it isn’t, they said they have lost $)

So, they have two options. Sell to BTC or hold their alt. If they sell to BTC and it goes up to the value at the time they bought it, they have made a profit. If the alt goes up more than BTC, their BTC comparative will increase and, assuming it goes up in USD as well, they will have made a profit, hence why I advised them to sell if they think their coin doesn’t have much short term potential

#1 only watch satoshi - the goal with altcoins investment at the end of the day is to have more BTC
#2 watch dollar - the goal is to have more dollar valuation

The first kind of investors believe BTC will go to the moon and all other trading is just to get more satoshi.
