Hi mates, I'm in EU and am trying to grow an instagram account (weightlifting related) in my own country only.

Currently only following-unfollowing manually and not sitting on more than 400 followers, and I feel completely stuck, I'm barely gaining more than 10 followers a week at this rate..

How would I go about setting up a bot that only targets people in my own country, any ideas?

OoooooooooFFFFFFFFFF. Just don't use a bot.
Jk, jk

For your situation, it's bad and you should be worried. But, I'm pretty sure you're just missing something and we could fix this. Wow, 10 isn't a lot, per week especially. Could you be more specific? How many do follow a day? Why do you follow these people? and where do you find these potential follower?

I manually follow and unfollow and I receive around an average of 150 followers a day, like i get a good 50% followback rate, which is decent for my standards.

I go into the recommendeds of weightlifters who are at the target followers I'd like to be, I honestly think it's a bad way to go, my follower to following ratio is looking really bad..

I think the smartest way to go is pre-plan everything on a brand new fresh account, maybe buy 1-2k followers and mass-follow around 400-500 people for engagement? Or is that just a bad idea?

That's exactly what I did, and I'm doing just fine. I bought 1.5k followers and I have now received around 1.5k through following and unfollowing in 2.5 weeks or so. I find a big account in my niche, click on their followers, and follow as many as I can.

Don't follow the people these weightlifters recommend/follow. Those are often influencers (accounts with many followers) and will not follow you back. Depending on your bot you could either follow the followers of other local weightlifters accounts or follow people that interact with these accounts (like and comment).

Search on Google for gyms in your country. Go to their sites and find their Instagram account. Then follow the followers of those accounts. You can also follow the followers of local stores that sell weightlifting equipment and supplements using the same tactic.

If you follow back rate is low, make sure the content you post is great. Good lighting etc. Content is still the most important reason why people follow you. Make each post look really professional.
