Kind of a hypocrite question when asking on a forum, but is xrumer still good for spamming forums in 2018?

It probably won't help your rankings. Some people say that there are ways to configure xRummer and GSA blasts to work even in 2018. If there are ways to use them, it is much more complicated and difficult on a technical level than it was back in the day.

Well, using it for SEO is a sideshow. The main thing it will be used for is spamming forums with invite links. Just heard some really bad thoughts about it not even working good, so I decided to ask :)

You could plausibly make that work. If you're trying to get direct traffic/conversions, be aware that conversion rate is very low for that kind of spam, unless it's done very well and to a very high quality. Humans don't trust spammy forum links/comments, in general.

I prefer GSA since you can scrape your own list of sites to post to and you can post to other sites besides forums.

Most people nowadays use automated backlinks to boost their tier 1 links.

Money site - web 2.0s - automated backlinks (GSA/Xrumer)

Of course that's only a basic outline everyone has their own preferences and unique twists.

That good-old tiered backlink strategy:
  • Automated backlinks (GSA/Xrumer) --> Web 2.0 --> Money Site
Used to be much stronger than it is now.

Have tried automated backlink blasts with a few web 2.0s -- Jimdo, Weebly, WP -- haven't seen any movement. The Weebly I tested it on ended up getting banned, actually, and it was clean in terms of content. Only spammy thing about it was the backlink profile.

In terms of tiered link building, I have had much better results with:
  • Cheapo PBN links --> clean, multi-page web 2.0 --> Money site
For the most part, not as much of a fan of tiered link building as back in the day. Getting better results buying guest posts and through clean expired domains / PBNs.

Yeah a lot of web 2.0 properties themselves don't rank well in Google. If you look at SEMrush many have had a big decrease in organic traffic making it less valuable in terms of ranking it as a parasite.

Cheap PBN definitely work too, I've seen good results when

25 web 2.0s + automated backlinks (mostly contextual preferably) --> 5 web 2.0s with 8-10 articles each --> money site

Since I can easily create as many web 2.0s as I want I just add another tier of them. Having a lot of articles on the web 2.0s help it build relevance. You can use automated backlinks on both tiers web 2.0s if you'd like, to spread them out the backlinks and keep a better link velocity. Or just as a 3rd tier

There's so many ways to do blackhat SEO I usually use GSA and other tools for parasites or boosting my tiers. Having SEREngines definitively helps too. Honestly my niche is almost no competition so I can rank a bunch of keywords and get good conversions on buyer keywords and such.

for tiering links it's still good ...... but you have to know what you do with all the autosoftware as well. dont boost to hard and directly.
