Where to focus: PBN vs. High DA web 2.0 like weebly.com

2 questions:

1. web 2.0 like weebly have a lot more higher authority than your own PBN. Still, if you were to focus on building more tier 2 backlinks to tier 1, would you focus on giving more authority to your own PBN or your own web 2.0 site like weebly.com?
2. how much do you guys care about the domain authority of your tier 1 backlinks? No PBN can come close to what web 2.0 offer when it comes to DA, but still based on what I have learned from this forum, it seems that guru's care more about PBN than web 2.0. safe assumption?

you can have both. webs and profiles for authority, pbns for aged link juice

PBN's for sure, but web 2.0's can help for diversity of anchors and act as pillow links

Web 2.0s for some slight firepower and diversity. Do not expect them to rank you by themselves. You won't rank anything even half competitive without PBNs or guest posts nowadays. You are welcome to try though, but it won't work.

You have to create high value links for rankings. A bunch of "high DA" web 2.0 wont do the trick.

Even if we create 100 high DA web2.0 backlinks for tier 1 with around total 50 of bookmarking, directory, profile links combined for a competitve niche.

For competitive niche you will have to use some firepower links. Web 2.0s won't pull it off by themselves.

PBN = you are in control over your backlinks

Unless less things have changed and I just don't know about it yet, a subdomain on one of those high DA web 2.0s is treated the same as a new domain. In other words, much of that authority doesn't really pass on to the subdomain. All the links juice pointing to the root domain don't pass on to your sub domain. That's just a theory that is generally accepted by many though and you can always test it for yourself.
