There has to be a way to be getting more exposure other than sharing a SoundCloud link... How did guys like Nav, lil uzi vert and 6Lac do it ? How do you get quality music to take off and hit the charts ? Anyone that can let me know ? You can also pm me. If you got valuable information hm I’m willing to work something out for it.

They blow up on other social media and link to their soundcloud.
They all got dope looking instagram/fb whatever accs.

Fastest way to getting famous is creating attention grabbing videos and getting shared by big accounts that repost your video.

This is a topic that's interesting to me.
Rap is one of the few genres where how someone became famous is such a focus. In any other genre, it's automatically regarded as a lucky break or because of talent. In rap, there are so many things that go into it.

But, to really think about it, it is more than just social media cross promo.

In actuality, it's a mix of a few things:
1. Good Branding
2. Consistent music quality
3. Relatable subject matter whether through catchiness or image or an amalgamation
4. Proper cross promotion
5. Everything setup so that once attention is caught on one platform, it goes between various means of social media on different channels.

Most rappers have awful recording quality. They spend $5 on a youtube beat, $6 on mixing and recording, and then $3 on a cover and expect their music to have traction. Great quality is one thing, but artists like Shiloh Dynasty have an easier go because all they need is a guitar, an instagram channel, and a good aura.

Rap, is hard to stand on its own. Artists like Boonk (or whatever his name is) blow up from shenanigans. Others blow up from their vibe or their ability to shitpost. I imagine you have to pick your strengths, make your weaknesses as much as non factors as possible, and systemize your process as much as possible.

There's a reason why artists like kanye west drop an album with 30 people on the credits. It's because its a melding of minds and resources to drop the best product possible, whereas in other genres one guy takes credit for everything even if he had help (I have worked with studio clients before and I hear horror stories). Rap does this as well (especially to producers) but its alot more open with how they get where they get.

The more control you have over the details, and the more you invest time and energy wise into each release from its creation to polishing to distrubtion, the more potent your ability to make am impact will be.

Because, all in all.

It's just business mate.

You have to start locally. Contact local radio stations. Link up with local artists already popping and offer them something, ganja is great ice-breaker...lol

Do local shows and try to open for big artists when they come to town (get pictures with the artist and upload to social media which will make you look popular)

If there are any large universities around you, they throw parties every weekend. Listen to there radio station to gather info, go to their parties and find a opportunity to show your talent (granted to have it!!)

Always have copies of your music on flash drives to give away. Also on that flash drive will be your contact info.

The long and short of it is "You have to pound the pavement"

Hope that helps.

Its not going to happen simply from social media.

Your lyrics should be a voice for some particular group of people.

Who you repping?

Your city? Gangs? Neighborhood?

Thanks for all the input. I’m not the artist but my friend is. On YouTube he got like 6 vids all the views combined are like 700k. SoundCloud he got about 2k followers 300k+ listens. The music quality wise I would say it’s already mainstream quality (not saying this because I’m his bro). We rep gang and everyone in the city knows where we from. I was specifically asking how to blow up on SoundCloud the blackhat way because there gotta be a way to get the music out there. In the past we got a paid repost from xxxtentacion that repost gave us 100K plays. With other people they got like 20k-30k from the same repost so I know the music is not the issue. We just need to find a way to get the music to the people on SoundCloud because ones they listen they’ll be interested.

I'm also interested in this. I think you have to stay consistent. Quality and quantity wise. Keep dropping albums, making collaboration with other people. If you talking just blow up on soundcloud, then pay a known rapper to repost your song. Hit up online radio stations, blogs, people who already have people following them.

Is there a blackhatway to finesse the algorithm or something ? I heard that Lil Pump signed a whole deal with a social media agency that knew how to finesse the Instagrams explorer page. Isn’t something like this available for SoundCloud ?

I know a rapper that is considered on one of the best in the country,
by most of the underground rappers, and he hasn't made a dime, or blown up on soundcloud,
been rapping for 20+ years, 10 albums.

That’s crazy

Does anyone know a worthy page I can contact for a repost ? Not no repost network with 90% fake followers. Xxxtentacion used to do good reposts for 150 but he stopped doing them. I need a repost page that can get stuff trending like Xxx’s page used to do.

Try and get your music featured on YouTube vlogs, these people are always looking for original music

Thanks, you’re right. I think this played a big role in how NAV blew up.

this is gold

some of them get there youtube videos on a popular youtube page. and buy a shit ton of views, shares, likes and comments for the video to make it to top of the youtube page that then drawn in real attention to mix in with the fake traffic. just like "lil xan" did on "COLE BENNETTS" youtube page. He bought 1 million views, 100k shares, 30k likes, and 6k comments that then brought in 90+ MILLION of organic traffic to see what the BUZZZ was about.

YOU NEED $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

It's all about your connections. Even that new guy Trinidad James he used to throw huge parties in ATL before he started the composing the music.
