Thought I would make this post to further people who may be experienced or maybe not so experienced in "Dropshipping" so for all who have experience or know a lot about dropshipping share your tactics below such as:
  1. How to target a niche
  2. Best Plugins
  3. How to efficiently promote a product
  4. How to price a product/how to properly label products on sale
  5. How to connect with large influencers that will promote your store
Feel free to share anything that you think will benefit people with their journey of dropshipping.

P.S. If you need help with setting up anything such as domain, store etc.., feel free to PM me or another member who is happy to assist you

My quick tips:

1. People should have an unexplainable passion for the product. Example dog t-shirts and merchandise.
2. Shopify - Oberlo. Wordpress - WooCommerce. Both of the systems should have remarketing options.
3. Through building a brand and not looking for a quick flip. Best way to promote products: YouTube, instagram shoutouts.
4. Mark up 2x - 2.4x.
5. Connect with influencers through their contact channel.

1. I have never had a passion for what i sell. I simply identify what i can make the most money doing for the least amount of effort. I have certain skills that mean i gravitate to certain things, but that is all. If you have no business experience and follow your passion you will loose your objectivity and most probably all your money.

2. Use whatever technology you are comfortable with it is just a tool.

3. There is no catch all place to go to market your products. You go where your target market is. I have never marketed on youtube or instagram, too much pissing about.

4. You charge what the market will bear. If the going rate is $100 and you buy at $10 you dont have to stick with a rigid 2.4 multiplier.

5. See 3.

Here are my two cents on dropshipping:

I run an AliExpress dropshipping store in WordPress so this thread reply will be in relevance to that only.

To target a niche? I did a lot of research before picking my niche. Initially, I just picked products that were trending without really caring for the niche and once I found what worked well, I did my further research. A quick google search with the keyword and then testing the market popularity with Google Trends. The niche was small with an existing target market (Fan Merchandise) and that's what I wanted. So, it was bingo for me!

Next, I decided to start my store on WordPress because I was low on budget and it was also the best platform to freely customize and build my store easily minus any codes. I used WooCommerce plugin to set up all pages automatically. Got Flatsome theme for my store as well. I also use WooDropship Software for store automation like product import and order fulfillment.

For the product promotion, I used my writing skills a lot. Started with a Facebook and Insta page and built traffic with fun and humorous posts. I also joined the relative Facebook groups and ran ads on FB and Insta to promote the best products I had. The data I got from my ads was used to retarget the audience with email campaigns. I use MailChimp for email marketing and Intercom For Customer Support.

As discussed about WooDropship, they have Global pricing guidelines option. So, as a general rule I pick products with epacket shipping (its faster) and ones that cost less so that I can have an increased markup. An average markup is 70-80% for items less than $1 to $3.

To connect with large influencers is not important. The key is to connect with the right influencers who belong to your niche so that the right audience can be targeted through them. If you're selling cakes there will be no point in partnering with a fitness influencer. So, target with the influencer who has 5-10K followers and offer them a free product for a post or Insta Story. You can also offer CPA for large influencers. The pay off is generally great for this marketing tactic.

I also run contests and offer exclusive discounts from time to time to entice my customers and create engaging posts on social media to keep the community growing and my store flowing with sales.

I hope it helped here. If you need any help with your dropshipping store or Inbound Marketing tactics, ask away and I'll help you!

5. See 3.

1. I meant people who you market to, THEY should have an irrational passion for the product. ;)

2. Agree. It was from my experience.

3. Agree on this.

4. It was an example which works best for the products I have worked on.

But I see where you are standing.

Everyone has a different experience with dropshipping.

Golden rule: And what works for others might not work you.
