I only have Ahrefs standard, but it appears all of my keywords are back to the position they were originally in when I use site explorer. A few of my tracked keywords are more than 100+ in position, but they are more competitive than the rest. It doesn't appear my domain has provided the initial bump I would have liked - however it's early days.

So far I've learned to leave things alone and stop tweaking them. Had I started to disvow links I'm not sure what would have happened. Hoping within the next 3 weeks to a month I'll see a nice jump to #1, but time will tell!

In the meantime I'm building 3 more PBN's just in case I don't get the position I want. I've got a few more websites I could use the PBN's for anyway, so it's not a waste should this site get tanked for some reason. I'll also be building more links to diversify my anchors a bit, just to rule that potential penalty out of the equation.

The site is 4 MO old since being indexed. Not sure if I would class this as established, but it's not brand new. The PBN has 107 Referring domains, with the vast majority being authority sites within my niche. Ahrefs picked up another 5 keywords I'm ranking for overnight, so I'm going to see what will happen.

Worst case, get a aged domain with unrelated name.

Sounds like you need more link diversity, or just links in general. I'd focus on a multi tier approach if you're concerned about using PBNs and such.

What does the link profile for your first tier look like? Where do those pages rank? IMO, It's good to have your first tier in the top 50.

I've got the same right now. 15k/ms keyword.

What did you do to stop this?

Im in the exact same boat as you.. What type of website is this? E-com?

I think it's normal, i have some keywords that jump out of top 100 ( > out of rank ; like >500 or >250) but it rank for top 20, top 30 before. Wait for someday and it back to the beginning postions. I do it again and again and I realized that maybe some bad link affected to my keyword rankings. because When i link, it jump out, and I remove that link, it come back. Wow, so now, I don't feel so worry when it jump out or jump in like that.

If it's a new site and not so many backlinks yet, then it could be a possible G dance, but it shouldn't last long in that case... I'd suggest if things don't go better in a month, there is something else wrong and G slapped it. I would not do any dramatic change in link building, but keep the current ones and slowly continue building links. If you stop link building completely, it's a bigger footprint of manipulation than having a couple of lower quality backlinks. Try to get social presence too, by creating social pages and getting likes and followers for organic reach and making it look natural.

I had a site not long ago that bounced from pos 2 to page 20 and it did this for a few months.

It could be because of a toxic PBN as well, even 1 toxic PBN link can screw things up A LOT. Check the anchor history and page history on majestic also inspect wayback very carefully. If not sure then test the PBN, link to a local site that has 0 links built in the past months and wait for 3 months to see if it's up or down.

The PBN is private, it's not bought links from anywhere else. Prior to setting this up I investigated to the best of my ability and didn't see anything wrong. Still seeing fluctuations again so I'll see how it plays out
