I am planning on using wordpress or shopify. My mind is 80% wordpress now reading multiple threads here on BHW.

My question is what plugins do I need to have aside from woocomerce to get things launched, and what other stuff do I need to do first before setting up shop?

depends what you are selling and who your payment processor is... also, good choice going away from Shopify they are just an overpriced trap

Shopify is just easier and simpler in my opinion, especially if you are planning on dropshipping. Do it right and the fees won't mean a thing. If you have your own inventory you want to sell, just use WooCommerce for WordPress.

Good choice and shopify isn't easier, it's a straight up clone from WP they just have better support and every dollar I keep in my pocket is a dollar extra.

You read my thread?

I'm going to drop a really detailed Ebook about dropshipping/eCommerce in Jan.

When my clients want to open a new online shop, the first thing I do is look at their top competitors and see what platform and plugins they are using. Sometimes Google favors certain platforms and plug-ins over others depending on the niche. Hope that helps :)

I would feel that under Maybe just because other people are using Shopify does not mean Google favors Shopify for that niche and that you cannot achieve the same if not better (probably better actually) SEO results via WordPress

I will research what my competitors are using. Thanks for the advice.

So i will just start with just the woocomerce plugin and start from there?

Good to hear but in case you didn't read my basic thread, take a look.

Installing woo is easy, setting up store is easy but having the marketing skills, the right design, knowing the right plugins, the right plugin settings, mailist etc is where the hard part starts.
