I picked a Low competition keyword & long tail, after 3 weeks I have managed to rank on page two of the search term. I think the article has good onpage seo, I wonder if over time it will rank higher with my webpage getting more authority. Or should I start thinking about building back links to improve ranking. My site is just starting out and have 5 articles, and just started internal linking. Should I wait it out, or go on and try back linking (thinking about building a 2.0, which I never built before)

Yes. Web 2.0 is great. Focus on Guest Posting. That will also help.

Start building related links for your site and share your published articles on all related social media groups. Also create social media pages for your site and share all the articles on that page.

Building 20-30 web 2.0s will help you to rank better. If not enough, power it up with some PBNs.

Yes you can go for Web 2.0, it is an easy way. But also try guest posting from authority sites, that will add more values to your site ranking.

dear don't make backlinks in 1st month just concentrate on your articles, write as much as unique articles on your blog, give social signals to your every article, share it on 5+ social networks and make sure to share it on your tumblr blog. from 2nd month you can continue sharing your articles plus you can make backlinks to your most top keyword rank in search engine. ok

Not a bad idea honestly.

that's the only right idea seo is not just name of backlinks, it's a combination of onpage and offpage seo and everyone should focus on both not just one. there is alot i can say about it but for now OP should focus on social sharing not make backlinks because then if you will make 1000's of backlink that will not give you any benefit and i am sure google will consider it as a spam right now in first month.

You need to get backlinks to be in top10.
You can also strengthen the entire domain - add new articles, link the entire site.
And then, over time, this article should also enter the top10.

To get to page 1, you will need a different type of links, particularly specific links that have specific characteristics. Some of the good indicators that can be used to determine whether those links are suitable for your site would be TF>25, PA/DA>35. Links with higher metrics such as those, indicate that the domain does have some good links pointing to them, and perhaps not entirely too spammy.
So by gradually accumulating such type of links, it will help inch closer to page 1 over time. Perhaps some PBN links (quality ones) would help you bump the ranking a little higher.
