Ok so I am going to be sell a couple things on Clickbank, and one of them is kinda like an ebook (ebook on blog so people can't just take off with PDF after purchasing and try & get a refund)

I wanted to know what would be a good idea for the price and commission.

Currently it is:

65% commission

$25

It's a guide for aion online (gold guide)

Now here is what I don't really get, should I charge higher? Leave it at this price? Or even lower it?

I am sure many of you know about therichjerk.com he charges 9.95, will people even promote such low products and why even charge so low?

Let me know, thanks! :tee:

Cheap means that it sells easier. I've seen cheaper clickbank products used as "gateway products" to enable selling more expensive products at a better rate.

Expensive is just a fire-and-forget thing, in my opinion. you can make just as much money, but you might also have a higher refund rate depending on the product.

I'd say $25 is fair, since Brady Games and whatnot charge about that for their video game guides that people would buy in stores.

Split test, split test, split test.

I think price really depends on the product and the value you want to imply.

For you, you are showing them how to make gold quicker. So first, how much does gold cost in dollars if someone was to buy gold? How much gold is your book worth?

If gold costs $10 for X, and you can show them how to make X amount of Gold per hour than your book has a lot of value.

I personally think books related to games should cost less than $10. I would never pay more.

The rich jerk offers a shit load of bonuses to his affiliates on top of the flat commission(I am guess he makes a lot of back end offers) so thats why people promote him(because no one would promote it just for the $7 commission or whatever it is)

If I were you, I would raise the price, and raise the commission to 75% like all the top sites on CB. I know 75% doesn't leave a lot of the initial sale price for you, but thats what affiliates like to see(many dont look at products that arent 75%) but maybe you can start pushing some back end offers to your customers so you make more $$ per sale.. Idk thats what I would do

well what i had in mind was to charge a relatively low price and give a nice commission so people send sales my way

and then i will advertise other products at these customers

so i may be getting only a small amount of money from them on the initial sale but mail them other offers & such in the future

Maybe I should charge 15 and give 75% commission?

i'll be upselling these people like crazy anyway

Give away a few fundamental details in a newsletter so you get people to sign up, sort of like a free trial in a way. Also, offer a discount code/link to insentivize the subscriber. Put the price point at $40 for non-subscribers, but $25 for subscribers. Upsell to the list on related products.

Research has shown that the "magic numbers" for ebooks and digital Internet Marketing products are:

$17

$27

$47

$67

$97

If you have a lot of great, valuabe content (PDF's, Videos and Audios),
you can charge in the upper range. But if you only have a 10-20 page
PDF, you should probably stay in the lower price ranges.

"Wiz"

Lower prices = More sales at a lower price

Higher prices = Less sales at a higher price.

In my experience from just selling it by yourself without clickbank the lower prices are a lot more profitable.

For gold guides you would be looking at either $27 or $47 as Wiz pointed out.
Also mind sending me over a copy of the guide? Ive been playing Aion through the beta's and have started playing properly now as it has been released. Also might be interested in possibly affiliating with you and selling some copies if its good. Aion gold guide's are a niche ready for tapping atm.

I think if a game guide is $25 in a store you probably don't want to sell yours for anything over $20 online. I personally think you'll be lucky if you can sell it for that much, most people who buy game guides go to either a store or go to a website that specializes in them. I think game guides are going to die within a couple years anyway, there is very little in them that you can't find out online for free.

You have it right here. Do this and make it $7, $9 or $11. Always odd numbers. Sell a shitload and suck them in your upsell.

That's a two way street. The concept of giving away the front end and banking on the back end is nothing new. But you'll find it's difficult to recruit affiliates when you're offering even a high commission on a dirt cheap product.

@ OP - I'd suggest driving some traffic to your own offer before worrying about enlisting affiliates. Split test two price points to targeted traffic and make an educated decision. Any advice you'll get from the questions you've asked will be generic at best. You'll have to know how to maximize your own numbers before you can expect others to back your products.

Hm, funny I found this. I actually own aiononlineforum.com and have been playing the game a ton over the past few days xD

The site looks like it'll have a ton of traffic by the looks of it so I may be interested in marketing it. Send me a PM with some more info/link

i set the price to 27

i'll see how that goes

Pricing is not determined by you, but by the market!

For example...
All cans of soda/lemonade are around the $1 mark, right? That is the commonly recognised price people are willing to pay for such products. That is why these things only sell at these prices.

Check what other similar ebooks are going for based on Clickbank product data.
Test your ebook at low prices first and if they make sales increase the price gradually (every day or whenever you start making some significant sales). If they don't buy the book at the low prices they sure as fuck won't buy it for the higher price.

It's not really about the content or quality of the ebook. How are they going to know these things unless they buy it!? And another thing - The quality of the ebook will only affect the refund rate.

I also agree with the InternetHustler - 75% sales commission to your affiliates

Seriously mate, this is the best advice you can get...

I'll agree with everyone who says split test and give a high affiliate commision.

As for cheap vs. expensive, I've found that if your copy is good it's just as easy to sell something that's overpriced as it is to sell something underpriced. The secret (as Questionable mentioned earlier) is to convince them it's worth the high price.

That's what copy is supposed to do; build perceived value. If you can get conversions that are in the same ballpark with a $27 offer as you do with a $97 offer on the same product, you'd be dumb to stick with the $27 price point. In addition to throwing away your own profit, you're giving a far smaller commission, meaning fewer affiliates will want to sell for you.

Knowledgeable affiliates don't give a fuck about the actual % of the commission, they focus on the actual dollar/sale.

I say put your price as high as you can while still getting halfway decent conversions because the strength of the business model is having a horde of affiliates selling your product for you. The higher your price, the more of these you will attract.

ok so your suggesting i go up to $47 or $37?

i'll also increase the commission to 75%

What we're suggesting is you test to see what the market will bear. Set up several identical sales pages - the only difference being the price. Buy some PPC traffic and send it to each of the pages until you have enough data to know where you'll be making the most money (if it's a tie profit-wise between 2 different prices, go with the higher one because that will attract more affiliates since they'll be getting a bite of a bigger pie).

I've known people who were shocked when they split test a new product and found that they actually made more sales with a higher price. Sometimes (not always, but sometimes) people will see a low price and assume it's a shitty product while a high price will convince them it's something worth having...

If you want to have a higher price you need better marketing and packaging to increase the "perceived value"
