Did i choose the wrong keywords? Amazon Affiliate website.

ranking for my amazon website really is taking a long time. do you guys believe in the "google sandbox"? maybe that's why my website is not even ranking for easy long tails.

Anyways, My webpage is 2 months old now.

my website on page seo is good. i'm adding PBN links but i think i chose the wrong keywords.

top 10 of the keywords are all authority sites ranking category pages of the product. the top 10 URLs of the keywords have NO BACKLINKS. but the domain themselves have a lot of authority.

so zero backlinks to url but very strong domain backing it up

do you think it's feasible to rank top 10 on these with 10 PBN links to my url? even though my domain is not a big deal.

They definitely do. when i got to this project i knew it would be something for me to work long term.

anyways, i just don't want to focus most of my time and my money on something that is not going to rank in the long term.

do you have any keywords similar to the ones i described? (top 10 has no backlinks but it is part of an authority domain)

It sounds to me you may ve after an eccomerce keyword from the description of the top 10 you gave.

Are all in top 10 online shops? Then, yes you may be after the wrong keywords.

Usually seeing other affiliate websites in top 10 is a good sign.

Does your keyword start with "best" or end with "review" or something similar?

it is an ecommerce keyword. the top 10 has no backlinks but that's it.

If the top 10 are big e-commerce sites with age, it may be difficult to rank. Trust me I made the same mistake with my own first affilliate site. I blindly followed what Long Tail Pro recommend and it was wrong.

new domains dont rank in 2 months. they need much longer. After half a year if you push links and content like crazy you should see effects on new domain.

I didn't say ALL videos on the first page being YouTube, I meant SOME videos on the first page usually means that it is a low competition keyword.

i'm not even in the top 100 for my main keyword.

i guess my only hope is to rank for some long tails.

I made the same mistake some time ago. It is not too late to create another site, ranking for an e-commerce keyword with a content site in 2017 is almost impossible.

Everything is about search intent. People typing your keywords are looking for online shops. Google knows that, that is why they are showing online shops. No matter that they do not have backlinks, they do not need them. Even with backlinks, you cannot outrank them.

Affiliate sites should target keywords like ones:
starting with "best"
ending with "review"

It is really good if you are starting out and explains the type of keywords you should be targeting.

If you target the right keywords and have the right on-page, even with 1 month site you should be in top 50, or at least top 100. Then with backlinks push it to top 10. It takes about 6-9 months nowadays for a new domain.

Forget about outrankimg category pages. Two months is plenty of time, if you aren't in SERPs yet it's bot gonna happen. Use the site to target easier keywords first, and perhaps go after the ones you have now later on.

Yeah i guess i can try ranking for long tails with the website. it has a bit of juice already.

the thing is that i bought these keywords you know... lol but i'm learning how to do the keyword research myself so that it doesn't happen again.
i already found a small keyword with a few affiliate sites and a few youtube videos. the top URLs have very few shitty backlinks.

anyways i'm going through the amazon best seller list and using keyword planner to find long tail kws

this is just a learning experience.
