Should I revive old website or not worth it?

So I had a website which would now be 2 years old, the website made me around ~3-4k in the first year, ranked #1 for a 7k MS keyword which brought almost 2k in a single month then for some reason as I kept adding more content (and since website was aged) I started sending some more decent quality links and keywords ended up going down and traffic went from 700-1k a day to 30-100 a day with almost no money (like 30$ a month or so) ended up waiting for a few months without touching anything to see if rankings would go back up but no luck, was always stuck in #4-7 for keywords that previously ranked #1, and some keywords with 0 competition never even got top 100 or no matter wht I did never got top 10.

It all started when a new competitor got into town, not sure if he did something to get on top of me though but he's still #1 and he hasnt touched his site in over a year now.


So I gave up on the site. I got a backup so I can set it back up, I don't know if it's worth it though, could I have been slapped by google even though some keywords were still ranking (although 90% of my traffic was gone)?


I could use the content and make a new site on a new domain but I dont have any good expired domains for the niche, starting a new domain would be quite painful in terms of how much I actually have to wait before doing any linking activity.

I do, tight budget atm, would rather invest it somewhere else if experienced members wouldn't recommend me to revive it. Looking for some more opinions from people who've been in my position

Nothing too bad that I'm aware of, spam score of 1 should be pretty low since it's in a scale of 1 to 17

Yep tried and rankings didn't change

Tried adding more, nothing changed.

Will try renewing the website, fortunately the domain is still valid it didn't expire yet thank god, will just pay of rthe hosting hopefuly hostgator kept a backup.


Will be adding a new section at the bottom of each article such as FAQ and so on, most articles are at least 1k words some almost 2k so at least 200 more words I can easily add on each

do you have any plan? you want to repeat your failure and try to outrank someone who you failed to before?

maybe try other kws? if not, then other niche?

do you have a lot of precious content? then you can give it a try, but dont target single kw, target whole niche, if you can

if you will target only one kw then u wont outrank him anyway

my niche is really large but the ones that have ranked the best for me are always something like:

"Best tablet for xxx" (not the niche I use obviously, it's an example)
"best tablet for yyy"

then I use a content table with about 4 different examples, these 4 are keywords I'm targetting because the start of my KWs are always the same "best tablet for" only thing that changes is the last part, however I'm a bit scared due to over optimization.



I'll probably try to see if I can oturank him again, if not ill focus on the other posts that didnt rank to begin with and see if they'll rank now. My niche is always getting new stuff I can write about, ~2-3 new products a year I'll try to find the names / models / etc of the products that will be released and post for these models so I have the age advantage over all other sites, I can change the wrong information once the product is actually out.

Not sure what I should be doing regarding SEO though, I mean, I know SEO but since budget is a bit tight I'm having a hard time figuring out where to start.
