Hey, i have a problem. I just started a twitter account and im trying to grow it. I started with following people who liked tweets of famous people ( same niche as i have ) , im currently following 400, but i only got one person who followed back. This is very frustrating, i tried to create a new account but i still got the same results. Am i doing something wrong? Please help me

a lot of what people call famous accounts atr actually use smm to get retweets/fav.......
so you probably just follow fake account that's the main reason I guess

No, i checked and they're are active people, no spam accounts. And i dont think famous rappers and YouTubers use fake likes

It's normal, twitter fucking sucks with follow back to start with.

Twitter ghosts accounts, it's the problem I have tried to deal with for long but with no solution.
These people didn't get notification that you followed them.
You don't even appear in their follower's list, Resting the account for 3-6 days fixes that. Until you follow aggressively again and you'll disappear off Twitter again.

it could be, that your accounts are ghostet = followed people get no notifications about the follow

the reason: YOUR Following/Follower ratio is >1 -_- it could be that with 0,9 twitter lifts the ghosting

a had one case: unfollowed 1,8k and followed 1k worked

1day ghosted ~100 flwrs
1day ~500flwrs
next day again ghosted ~100 flwrs

Just because you follow someone doesn't mean they are going to follow you back. People who follow famous accounts, only want to follow famous accounts for the most part to see what they are saying and not some random scrubs like us. They don't care what we have to say.

Thanks for the great info, never heard about ghosting account. What is the best way to see if your account is ghosted?
I noticed 2 times now that I'm following 750 and have 200 followers and then out of the blue it looks like I don't get new followers.

That's when it's ghosted then probably right.

I still wrestle with the ratio. What do you mean by the >1 ratio. Is that like having 200 followers and following over 400?

What is best best amount of following and unfollowing per day for a new account? I have 763 following and 193 followers. Am I following too much people then?

An extended question, is it better to buy an aged account and just put all my content to that account so I can grow faster? Or will Twitter notice this and give me problems as well?

Thanks!

There's a lot of things that will trigger ghosting. as heartofgold said, celeb accounts arent productive usually. Follow people that have legit followings <2000, or simply follow the people that they follow,as they are more likely legit. let the account sit for 72 hrs with no follow/unfollowing, then follow under <300 to see if things change. Try not to follow and unfollow in the same 24hr period.
FWIW Im having to change tactics too and slow down some, too. they seem to be clamping down. It also appears like there's a half-ghosting now, where you can be found in searches still but the tweets dont get impressions, despite having a large following. Matter of fact, im going to make a thread on that topic now to see if anyone else is seeing that same behaviour

Thanks for your reply.

I noticed when I had a 750 - 198 following no one followed me back.
As soon as I started to not follow more people and just unfollow only, the followers keep coming in, now 2 days later I have 368 followers.

Also notice WAYY more liking and retweeting now.

Don't follow too many people without having the followers to keep it a little in balance.
I'm not sure if it was this topic or another but I do believe the best ratio is 0.9 to 1.5, stay in that ratio and your good!

A lot of following back too depends a lot on the niche.

Like my personal account, I don't care. I target everyone.. I follow the maximum of 1000 a day where I just tweet random rants or jokes that are going through my head at the moment. I'd friggen follow 10 million people a day if it it let me and I get like 300-400 new followers a day where I pretty much engage with all of them when they tweet me.

Now recently, I started helping this random webcam chick gain followers and since I'm targeting the people she wants, "horny males" her account is growing slowly... Like 100 a day.

So a lot of variables come into play.

Good point on Followbacks v niche. The more popular the demo, the lower the success rate unless you have a unique perspective that captures people. I've found it helps to be more consistent too, in terms of staying on-message in your niche provided it doesn't get stale.

My thoughts exactly. it's been like that for a while. At the beginning people would follow just bc they wanted to be following random stuff. Not anymore.
