Maybe I'm missing something...why has no one written a tool that would crawl wikipedia articles (though proxies) and link specified keywords on wikipedia articles to a specified link? No text changes, just linking, or changing the link if already linked, on certain keywords. I could do something like this in a day. I don't want to bother if there is already something good out there.
I'm assuming there is a reason why no one has done this and there doesn't appear to be anyone using a tool like this (at least not aggressively) but I have yet to discover it. Am I missing something? I know that wikipedia editors hate spam...yada yada yada. Arguably this wouldn't even be spamming. One man's idea of a site that is worthy of linking to and relevant to a keyword is another man's spam.
Is there any interest in this? I'd be happy to post it here when finished...probably quick and dirty but free.
