Not all GoDaddy hosting account provide full cron support, so generally I would say that you shouldn't use FG on GoDaddy. Thanks for your interest and let me know if you have any other questions.

I already have a custom script that populates forums, and after I've
sold to people, I want to at least show them that there's real users
still posting in the forums.

I was wondering if Forum Gen is able to do this.

Since I don't own the servers of the forums after selling it to them,
how am I able to continue populating their forum?

Also it is hardly noticeable (if you do install on the server). you can hide the script where ever on the server. I am pretty sure they will not check the db and even so you can change the script so the tables blend in.

To do this, you would need to buy a separate license from us for each forum you intend to sell, because you would effectively be giving the user a copy of our application, whether they knew it or not.

The person discussing crons is referring to running the cron jobs from a separate location, which would work, but you would still have to have the software installed on their server.

No problem. We basically allow FG admins to set a range of post and reply times. So, you'd set the number of posts per hour to 1 to 5 and the time between replies to between 60 and 3600 seconds. It randomizes those values once an hour for posts and once per reply for each reply.

So, in short, yes it is randomized, but configurable.

You can add a custom list of usernames if you want, but we basically took the top 10,000 most popular names around the world and created our own. It dynamically will apply a random number to the end, capitalize the first letter, make the first letter lowercase, etc.

This is not currently possible using Forum Generator, but if you're comfortable with modifying SQL databases, then it could be accomplished.

You can use an unlimited number of forums on an unlimited number of domains as long as you maintain ownership of the hosting environment and domains. In short, if you plan on selling the forum, buy a second license, otherwise, no worries.
