Hello members,

I have came across this suggestions on many SEO sites .

* Having more than 100 links will reduce your search engine presence.

Is it true ??
Practically speaking site's with more link should have more potential and it should be easy to rank.but then why many are claiming it will disturb the web spider, clawers.

I don't know who came up with that bullsh*t. Of course, if those more than 100 links are SPAM. Then it is bad for SEO.
But getting 1000+ quality links is much better than 100+ quality links.

I think you mean on-page internal links per page but that was an old recommendation.
Google dropped that guideline a long time ago. Unless you really mean back-links, lol.

Yes I was talking about onpage links and overall links in an website.
Thanks for clarifying.
Sorry i posted it on link building.i think it should be on white hat main subforum.

Where did you come across such suggestion? I guess it's either a non-reutable website or you misunderstood that.

I have came across sites suggesting that .
Ex : Removed at OP's request

I just copy paste what I got in report for one of my site.

This page contains too many URLs.
This web page contains 114 urls. Some Search Engines have problems with more than 100 urls on a page.

Please correct me if I am wrong somewhere.

As I said before, you are fine with having more then 100 links.

Very old guideline...I think everybody is confused because they think you're talking about backlinks since you posted this in linkbuilding.

This is about how many links you have on your webpage, not how many links are pointing to it.

Though that is not true in 2017 in my opinion.

Thanks all.
It's my fault to post on wrong subforum.

It's ridiculous that still some sites showing these kind of suggestions which are dropped years ago.

You can have 100 links or 100,000 links. It depends on numerous factors such as the size of your site, the number of RDs etc.
Quality over quantity though is the main thing to keep in mind.

Having more number of links is fine but its about time and quality you posting, while if you make drip feed for the links then sure you can use those 100 links to pass more link juice but 100 links at time may be a foot print and no results ofcourse..

100 links to a page is a just a suggestion. There are pages out there with more than 100 links, and it isn't an issue. If your page is sufficiently authoritative, Google is going to be interested in the pages that are being recommended by that page.

If 100 links are good quality, it's not bad seo.. Counts are not a matter comparing to high quality authority site links.

No, it's not true but the link should have good quality from different IPs, will surely increase your search engine presence. If you are creating 100 or 200 links with the same network IP then it could harm your ranking. You should remember SEO is all about web presence but it should not be spamming of links.

True is the more QUALITY and RELEVANT backlinks you have, the better it is for your website presence in search engines.
Links should come from sites that correlate to your niche, indexed ones, links should be surrounded by content and anchor texts should be diverse.
Remember that even 50 links from quality resources are better than 500 links from spammy websites.

Sorry guys the thread is again going in an wrong way.
My question was about internal linking and most people are talking about backlinks.i know backlinks number does not matter . quality matters.

Thats no longer the case provided that your page doesnt spam or stuff unneeded links.

With internal linking, it shouldn't matter, though it depends a little on where these links are placed.

Ideally you want good internal linking to pass authority through to all pages of your site. However, if you're linking to every single page from e.g the footer of the site, this won't be all that effective.

Are you sure that what you read was not referring to outbound links? You wouldn't want to have all that many outbounds as they will effectively be diluting the authority that you can pass among your own site pages.

When a search engine spider comes to your website which follows every link from the home page and then flow down hierarchically. If you have maximum of links they won't crawl much deeper at a certain limit. So use the minimum amount of links possible from the home page to other relevant pages.
