New Algorithm For Hashtags & Things I’ve Noticed

I'm tired depending on 3rd party platforms and all. These bitches are like everywhere. It's a matter of time when Big G comes with a new frickin algo and ruins all my SEO. And that bastard Zuckerberg comes along and starts prioritizing 'friends' & 'families' above organic reach of a page.
Give me a mask and I will show these bloodsuckers who has got the biggest balls.

Anyone on BHW have an idea what's up with the new IG stuff?

It is re-aligning. All the accounts I know who produce original account are seeing positive results in reach/impression.
I believe IG has figured out the power-like/telegram situations. Accounts from 10k to 90k I know and work with have told me they’ve seen an uptick in the past 3 weeks. Thanksgiving was a big win. I saw my reach jumped from 40% to 64% on a 30k account.

Hello all,

So I’ve noticed the last few days the top posts in the hashtags I target are consumed by random, small accounts. Some without too much engagement. These are some pretty big tags as well, I usually rank, but I pull 1-2K+ likes with 30-80 comments depending on post, and I’m now seeing account 100-300 likes, very few comments on top posts. Today I saw 2 with 14 likes and no comments. What is going on?

Now it also seems I am not appearing in the hashtags. I know that this means I am shadow-banned, but even users who follow me can not see me in hashtags (checked).

So if my account fucked? Can you get out of shadow ban?
Yeah this is the problem but if you check the hashtags in incognito mode than you can . check top posts. I also was in confusion at first but then figured it out.

Do you use any automation for that 30k account?

We use all original, viral content that has worked in the past and still got hit. I know both original and non-original content pages that have gotten hit during the month of November. We got hit exactly on Nov 14th. We did use DM groups or pods in the past, but hadn't done so for many months.

Ya he is right, the niche i was working in, instagram punished a official model of original content creator. According to me instagram punished all those accounts who were using hastags.
I saw same niche account as me still growing as before but they were not using too much hashtags. Just 3 or 4 hashtags.

Not sure I agree with a "penalty" tied to using too many hashtags because I know pages that have gotten hit who don't use many hashtags.

I had read in a few posts a while back that people that were shadow banned were deleting the first comment with their hashtags on all past posts to recover. We're not shadow banned, but if this is hashtag related, maybe deleting the hashtags on the posts might help. I've also read that some people recommend adding the hashtags in the actual captions instead of as the first comment. We always add them as the first comment because it makes the posts look less spammy.

If anyone has tried anything or has any other ideas, please comment.

We have been speaking to more and more industry associates and more of them have been suffering the same fate during the last 30 days. Two more popular pages that I know called me yesterday and confirmed this, but no one knows what to do about it.

In what niche you are working? or your clients

I think they are going facebook algo which totally sucks.

It happened to me too. It all started around 2nd week of November. I used to get decent amount of impressions~50k per post and 300-350 followers daily for many days but out of the blue Instagram disabled my account for a while. I was informed by a friend of mine.

As soon as I logged in, Instagram asked to verify my phone number again("security reasons") and after successfully doing that it did reset my password and had to change it.

Fair enough for security reasons. But since then my impressions dropped drastically, it got down from 50k average to 4k average per post. I started to lose followers. And just like another user mentioned here, before I used to get likes very fast within an hour. Before that I used to get 800-100 likes easily within first hour and another 600-800 likes in next 12-15 hours. But after my account got hit , I started getting likes very slowly (300-400 within an hour and 500-600 in next 12-15 hours).

It completely ruined my account. I removed all the hashtags from all posts and nothing worked.

It continued till 26th November and then I regained my engagement at normal level.

But for last 3 days it's acting up weird again. The same cursed period started again it seems.

Sorry for the total noob statement, but what's incognito mode? I've never heard of this for IG.

Hashtags dont mean shit anymore. Many people are now posting the new Insight features that show you the source of their engagement and hashtag seems the be irrelevant. In many cases, under 1% of on 20k accounts and up. Time to rethink the strategy. Will need to do some A/B test if posting less than 7 tags makes a difference.

One thing I have noticed is that the big accounts 100K+ uses 5-7 hashtags only and they receive 5K-20K likes per post easily.

We continue to use around 5 different sets of 30 hashtags that we continue to rotate with our posts and continue to post 7 times a day. If you look at the last 30 days of Social Blade data (attached), after the daily follower dip on November 14th (as I mentioned earlier) and the slump that lasted 2 weeks (like some other pages have confirmed), the growth rate picked back up to normal (pre-dip) levels.

How do you get 5 different sets of 30 hashtags ?
Are those all hashtags of the same niche ?
