No , it's the day after Thanksgiving sales. The biggest shopping day of the year.
Then Small Business Saturday..where you go to local owned stores and buy stuff.
Then Cyber Monday where everyone buys online.
I guess you could call it a festival of savings and spending.

I went to Wal Mart in the middle of the Redneck Sea on Black Friday once.
Once.
Someone ran me down with their cart. I got a digital camera, but they hid them in the freezer section. A fat woman in line in front of me peed her pants to not lose her spot at the check out. I saw two fights go down. And a windshield get smashed with a crowbar. The whole place smelled New Orleans-y (piss and garbage).
2/10 would not recommend. I'm all about online deals though.

I've only been to a Black Friday event once in my life as well. I only went to see what it was like.
I was 15 years old and I went with this MILF who was paying me to tutor her indolent daughter. The people were pretty mellow and a few of the were pretty nice to talk to. When it came down to the store doors opening, everyone just walked around, got what they needed, and left.
