Hashtags in caption vs. comments? What to believe?

I've heard various "experts" preaching one way versus the other, but does anyone actually know what's preferred to stay on Instagram's good/anti-spam side? What's the general consensus on this?

idk i do half in comments and half in caption.

I always do in caption and getting 100-150 more likes than with hashtags in first comment

weird, it shows up on the feed the same amount of time.

From my personal experience, there's no difference. Both work equally good but having hashtags in first comment doesn't look messy.

It's really weird, I really don't know why is this happening.
So when I'm adding hashtags in captions, I'm getting average 800 likes
but when I'm adding hashtags in first comment, I'm getting 500-550 likes

That's why I'll always prefer hashtags in captions
