20 % fees on ebay?! Is that normal??

Hi .... I just sell few items on ebay from China . All good untill I calculate the fees ..... Is 20% or closer!!! I ask the ebay suport and they tell me that I need to pay VAT. WTF??? Is anyone with same issue? I was sell in past from US some products .... but was litle bit more than 10 % or about this number but now is 20% for paypal and ebay togheter.

Where do you sell to? Which market? In the UK you have to pay VAT at 20%. Whether you are based abroad doesn't matter, products are stored in warehouses in the UK, so you have to pay VAT.

France is 21%, Spain is 20%, Italy 20%, depends where you sell but seems normal.

I sell from China to US . If I sell from US to US I get about 10% or litle more but not even close to this number. Is a big fees that I pay exlusivelly to paypal/ebay ! Is that normal? Thank

Are you including any listing fees, listing enhancements, shipping charges in that 20%?

Yes little bit more than normal, eBay takes 10% and PayPal takes like 6-7% that's all.

Thank you all for response. I didnt insert any listing enhancement or anyrhing. When I listed I have 0 fees and when I sold these items I was charged about 20% . So hapend to more peoples??? Is any way can avoid these insane fees? Thank

Everyone charged that much not only you, you have to pay paypal and ebay fees

Yes ebay UK you pay 10% + 2%vat + paypal fees = close to 20%

I'm getting out as it's way too high and the ebay customer is not exactly loose with their money.
