How important is https if I am not a merchant and don't allow registrations?

Do I need to get https for my site if I don't sell anything (I do have some CPA banners on it). I also don't let people register, so there is no storage of personal information.

Does Google still want me to have the extra security? Will it help with my SERP?

google was going to enhance indexing of https but didnt that was over the ipv4 running out but ipv6 stepped in so the indexing of https was cancelled ...

we was running out of domains and ip addressing so new exstetion was made so https never took off .

https still used for secuity for sensitive info.

that it no crawler enhancements.

pissed a lot of domain registers of becouse they installed ssl servers for the domains but as there no crawler enhasement you can know get free ssl / https certs lol lol love it

google 1 domain providers 0

People like my mom wouldn't stay on your site, as she always looks for the https,
and if it isn't there, she doesn't trust it. I can imagine she is not the only one like this.
Tech savvy people like others here, know that it doesn't make a difference really,
but those aren't the people you are targeting are they?
 
Https is an SEO factor, small one, but it still is. I've seen some keywords first page dominate with https sites. Latest Chrome is showing warning "Not Secure" next to url for http sites if user is filling in forms (contact) etc. While I'm not a huge fan of https, I have added to several sites of mine. I would check serps and if https isn't popular with your competitors, I'd consider skipping it.

https only encripts then decripts form info that it. i think it done via salt 256 escription

and you get the famous padlock on the browser.

with https you must also tell the user what your doing with there data from your forms and what and why it all stored on a legal page.

https sites are good only. it is having high secure when compared to HTTP sites.For making SEO also good one only
 
SSL certificate adds the security to your all data over the internet. It will provide the data integrity. Also, it securesyour details like the credit card or other sensitive information. When you are using any payment gateway like PayPal then it's compulsory to have the SSL installed on your website.

Sites having SSL installed on it have the more traffic, compare to the non-SSL sites.When end users see the green padlock while accessing your website on top left corner of the web-browser then it indicated him that it's trusted site. If there is no SSL then any computer connected to your server can see the username, password and other credentials on your site.When there is SSL installed on your website that time data on your website will be sent in encrypted format on internet so no can hack it.

So it's always recommended to have SSL on you domain.

SSL become main aspect in SEO ranking because clients used to trust and access the sites which are SSL protected. If your website is eCommerce site then customer used to do payments only with SSL sites. SSL sites load faster than non-SSL site so it's automatically increase the page ranking.
 
Switch to HTTPS also helps with the loss of referral data that happens when the referral value in the header is dropped when switching from a secure website to an unsecured website.

it's cheaper why don't you add it , it's going to coast you no thing and it will effect your business for sure as the guys mentioned above.
 
I switched 4 sites over to https 1-2 months ago. No noticeable difference for most of my keywords. It doesn't hurt to switch to https and is even free if you use LetsEncrypt. For my main keywords, all but one on page 1 are https. Check your competitors and see of they're using https.
 
Yes OP, it is becoming more important and it is a ranking factor.
You can get a FREE SSL Cert from numerous places.

You didn't read anything he said. And most of the stuff you said is wrong.

OP:
It isn't a main ranking factor, and Google can identify sites that need an SSL and sites that don't.

If you don't require any sensitive information to be sent from your server, don't get one. Google also identifies that you don't need one.

However, if you do need one, and you don't have one. Google will give you the "Dangerous Page" red screen, then the user will have to go through themselves.

It isn't a ranking factor that will make any difference at all.

Unless anyone can prove me wrong of course? Anyone got any proof of SSL making a difference?
