Actually they already did it. Facebook if i'm right. And they shut it down after the robot started to create its own language and ppl didn't understood it. So think about the future, while nowadays technology develops so fast that u can't even... think about that: how many years passed after the first wheel and light bulb? And how many years passed after the light bulb and first computer? So ppl are getting faster and faster in inventing new stuff, so i believe that actually self-learning AI is nearby.

there was also another ai "jean" if am not mistaken that collected data from the internet. well it got out of hand when she began "hacking" websites to get more data and the company that owned her only knew about this when they got ba call from the site jean was trying to hack. pretty interesting
