I have been using Godaddy for a while now buying domains and hosting. I have 1 hosting account with a dedicated IP that hosts about 7 different domains. My question is do search engines look at this one IP address for all my sites and rank them? Say if some of my domains have little to no traffic with bad ranking in the SE's will this affect all of my sites also being on that same IP? I read on these threads there shouldn't be any problem as long as they are Not all linked together. I'm just worried that since each domain does not have it's own IP that google may look at all the site as one? Any ideas?

Any help would be great! (Please..)

You will be fine.

1) As has been stated, as long as you don't link the domains on the same IP together, Google will not penalize any of the domains. The reason ppl are telling you not to link domains on the same IP is because it will be seen by Google as trying to manipulate the SERPS by giving yourself links. AKA "domain farming"

2) The ranking in the SERPS of one domain has nothing to do with the ranking of another separate domain, even if they are on the same IP. Imagine all the people on shared hosting getting screwed because of some shitty site on the same IP? It would make no sense for Google to do that.

I suggest you move your hosting from godaddy. I had a lot of problems with them recently and I don't want to hear about them again. They are f**king scammers and a bunch of idiots.

I didn't mention anything about godaddy. I assume you meant to quote the OP.

Just out of curiosity, what did godaddy do to you?

shared hosting is a common hosting platform. I wouldn't worry about it as long your not cross linking ALL of them together.

On another note, If you get to the point where you would like to interlink everything (ie linkwheel) you can use godaddys panel to easily point the domans DNS entry at another cheap hosting company. Many hosting companies offer like 3-9 dollars a month hosting.

Thanks all for the replies. I do agree that godaddy does piss me off a lot! I run wp-o-matic for some of my auto blogs. Many times ALL my sites go down, then I get an email from godaddy stating that I am using too much server CPU. They also state that they will suspend me if I continue. I only fetch about 10 posts per day. Big deal godaddy!

Hey, thank you all very much for this information! I've got 7 domains on 1 godaddy account, and did not know about the interlinking problem. I was planning on linking 3 of them, as they're all related in the same topic. Now I know I've got to be careful about doing that! :)
