It is because of the thread by @Sherbert Hoover and because @mickyfu sold half of his BTC, this caused a panic.

I thought that would be a good thing? Reduce the confusion and reduce the risk of bitcoin from becoming nothing.

Yeah but the market usually becomes volatile after big updates/news. Only be temporary though

Btc mostly consists of traders wanting to make profit.
Everyone invested in BTC in anticipation of the hard fork.
Hard fork cancelled.
BTC price drops as everyone tries to get out.
Other crypto follows to varying extents.
Buy back BTC at $5k.
Do I know what I’m talking about? No not really
but I think it’s a good guess.
