Social Signals - do they actually work?

Hi,

Considering some of the social signals packages on BHW, there are so many though! My question is this, I have a search term where we are stuck at No.2 on Google for a term that is 300 - 500 searches a month, not overly competitive and the only real difference in the 1st place listing is it has been there for ages + has a better link profile.

My thoughts are that we can overtake them with social signals as they literally don't have any, should I look at a regular drip or just smash a load in?

I used organic social signals and yes they worked for me. I would trickle start so you don't sike out the algos.

social signals can help, but from #2 to #1, who knows? only way to know is try; ideally they look real, so dripping could be better.

You're in 2nd position means dont try the social signals it is not helpful to pushup your position.
Build the backlink more than your competitor site. Those link should be very powerful.

99% of people who buy social signals don't notice a ranking improvement, and I"m guessing the 1% that do see improvements, see them only because they were building backlinks simultaneously. They probably won't improve your serps unless you make it look like you've gone viral, which is unlikely.

From #2 - #1 if you can't continue link-building, try to kill it with bounce rate and avg. session duration.

Social signals do work along with simultaneous niche link building despite an opinion that there is no direct ranking signal in Google’s ranking algo.

Exactly, but only if you know what you are doing (e.g on Twitter). But if you will buy social signals from botted accounts they will not significantly improve your rankings. Focus on high-quality link building.

"Social signals". There is no such thing. It is another mumbo-jumbo term that SEO "gurus" pulled out of their a$$. But, there is a correlation between social shares and rankings at some degree, yes - especially if your content is great. This correlation is not the result of so-called "social signals". You "may" rank better because more people share your content, the greater the chance of some of them like it and link to it.
