Right now is probably not the best time for someone to just get into cryptocurrency. If I were you, I would spend the time between now and SegWit2x on researching the subject and, if you still want to invest after SegWit2x, do so when the price inevitably drops. BTC is currently pumped to oblivion and nobody can say for sure where the price will be in 2-4 weeks time. Of course, as others have already said, don't invest more than you're willing to lose the entirety of; not only because of the high volatility but also because nobody will be there to help if you fuck up and misplace a private key etc. If $15k is less than 10% of your current portfolio size then I don't see any problems with investing that amount into BTC.

When I saw that article, I inmediately withdrawed my money from every wallet that I owned at that moment.

It is safer with me.

So I would recommend holding that money with you
