I'm from the european union and I need to buy some hosting services. I found a reliable provider but the problem is that their prices are higher in the EU compared to other regions. So I thought I can avoid the extra fees by accessing the website with a proxy or vpn and purchase a hosting plan with my credit card. My question is: do you think this will work? Will I be able to pay with a european credit card through a US proxy for example?

No hosting companies usually have fraud prevention services that will know if you're using proxies or not. They can easily track if the card was not used from the country of origin.

Yeah I know but I'm talking about $30 less compared to the eu price. It's money I don't have.

Not only that. Their price per month is as follows:
EU - €3.49, US - $3.49. How is that fair cnsidering the difference between currencies plus the vat fee?

Some hosters care, some don't. They won't kill you if you try, your order simply will be flagged and stopped, at which point, if you care that much, you can contact them, set the correct details and pay the higher price.

Who said one has to price the same to everyone? At the other end, you are not obligate to shop from them, so it balances each other.

Had never heard of but then I'm technical so I buy vps/servers and setup my stuff directly, so I'm not in a position to suggest managed hosting companies, sorry.

From my personal experience I know that purchasing hosting through a VPN will flag the order In my case, it was a small hosting company and I emailed the man and got it sorted. It's not going to be a smooth sail and I don't see a point in taking the tougher route to save pennies.

Do not use any VPN to place online orders. Most hosting billing software are screening orders using Maxmind or FraudLabs Pro. It will be flagged immediately if you using VPN. If you have any residential IP address proxy, then you might be able to bypass this checking. You can try to key in the IP address in the IP2Location.com and see if it is detected as data center range or residential.
